Small laptop with big memory. The most powerful small laptops: review, specifications and reviews

What is the name of the small laptop? Currently, such technologies are known as mini-laptops. This category of laptop computers refers to devices that can easily be thrown into any suitable bag, while leaving enough space for other necessary things.

A very small laptop with dimensions slightly larger than a notepad. However, this does not interfere modern models demonstrate capabilities at the level of relatively inexpensive personal computers. Let's look at the most popular mini-laptop models that the average user should pay attention to.

HP Envy Specter XT

This is a fairly reliable and relatively inexpensive portable device that combines all the qualities that a truly lightweight, high-quality laptop should have.

Here it is immediately worth noting the special dimensions and reduced weight of the laptop. This model has a display with a diagonal of 13 inches. As for the dimensions, they are 31.6 x 22.4 x 1.8 cm. The weight of the device is 1.4 kg.

Despite the delicate appearance, the HP Envy Specter XT stands out for its exceptional performance. This became possible thanks to the use of processors based on Intel Core i5 and i7. Such a small, lightweight laptop can really shine the best way when performing numerous office tasks.

Acer Aspire S5

For a long time, this model has not lost its firmly established position in the market. At the time of presentation, the mini-laptop was one of the first lightweight designs that used Intel Core processors. However, the advantages of a portable device are not limited to this.

Acer has long established itself as a reputable developer of high-quality and frankly inexpensive, but at the same time impressive computer technologies. Apparently, the Acer Aspire S5 was supposed to be the company's highest achievement in terms of translating original aesthetic ideas into reality. Main feature The design here is due to the insignificant thickness of the laptop. The result of the painstaking work of the developers was the release of a mini-laptop with a body thickness of only some 11 millimeters.

Apple Macbook Air 13

Small laptops from this manufacturer are leaders in design and workmanship. Naturally, the display resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels frankly cannot be called the highest among all miniature portable devices on the market. However, in practice this turns out to be absolutely enough for convenient work.

The laptop transitions from sleep mode to active mode in a matter of seconds, which allows you to quickly make the necessary changes to documents, view email and work in the browser.

Such small laptops have a comfortable keyboard with good backlighting, a comfortable touchpad with support for control based on a gesture system, which eliminates the need to use a mouse. The development has virtually no drawbacks, with the exception of image quality, in which the device is somewhat inferior to its direct competitors.

Small laptops in this series have the following advantages:

  • long battery life (more than 12 hours);
  • high speed of operations;
  • smoothness and ease of control;
  • miniature body;
  • attractive design.

Among the obvious disadvantages of the development, it is worth highlighting the somewhat inflated cost, which not every interested user can afford, as well as the inability to increase the amount of RAM.

Sony VAIO Pro 13

Small laptops in this series have a full-fledged, high-quality 13-inch display. The weight of the development is only 0.9 kg, that is, less than all the above portable devices. To everything it is worth adding a durable carbon case and a comfortable touchpad. It is this development that today can be described as the smallest laptop.

The model is able to compete well with the first positions in the selection of miniature laptops. However, the obvious disadvantage here is the rather limited operating time in

ASUS ZENBOOK UX32LN

When celebrating the best small laptops, you can't ignore the ZENBOOK UX32LN. The model has a display with a diagonal of 13.3 inches and a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The presence of a matte display surface without annoying glare makes the development stand out from other popular mini-laptops. Therefore, the purchase of the device can be recommended to all users who have to sit in front of the screen for hours.

As for performance, the developers managed to fit in miniature body hard drive, the volume of which is as much as 1000 GB. The presence of a discrete video card of the NVIDIA GeForce 840M series opens up the possibility of working with the latest programs for video processing, as well as launching modern games.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a small laptop? What is the name of this portable device?

When choosing a mini-laptop for work, you should first of all focus on the size of the display, since eye comfort is of decisive importance here. Modern mini-laptops have displays whose sizes start from 7 inches.

If we talk about display resolution, the minimum parameters of most mini-developments are 800 x 480 pixels, forcing users to view the content of web resources horizontally. However, the new generation of portable devices have a more usable resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, making browsing easier than a full-size laptop.

As for the operating system, most mini-laptops run on a free, pre-installed Linux OS. Installing this operating system significantly reduces the likelihood of malicious attacks. In addition, especially for miniature portable devices, the developers have designed more convenient interfaces compared to standard Windows tools.

We cannot ignore the power criterion, which depends mainly on the available processor. Today, only a few companies are actively developing processors for mini-laptops: VIA and Intel.

Initially, most mini-laptops were powered by Intel Celeron M processors with clock speeds ranging from 800 to 1.8 GHz. However, more powerful Atom and Core chips have recently become widespread.

VIA processors also demonstrate quite decent power, but are not capable of performing operations as quickly as Intel's developments. Although this option somewhat reduces the cost of the portable device, in this case you will have to accept the reduced battery life of the device.

Eventually

Each mini-laptop model that received attention in this material is good in its own way. Therefore, the decision to choose one or another option remains with the user, based on personal preferences, working conditions and needs. At the same time, the presented selection can serve as an excellent guide to the world of portable miniature technologies.

In our world, the concept of mobility has become somehow hypertrophied. Just a couple of years ago there was a real boom in the most compact cell phones. Surely, those who follow these trends remember the X830 gadgets from Samsung or V3 from Motorola, which were quite suitable for slicing bread or cheese.

The era of smartphones has made it possible to displace regular phones that can only make calls. For the user, the priority became not just conversations, but absorption of content, which the manufacturers could not help but note. The screen diagonal gradually grew, and the first phablets began to appear. The modern user has been given the opportunity to fully work with content from smartphones, phablets and tablets, but despite all their miniature and convenience (which is debatable), laptops are not going to relinquish their powers.

But, looking at the state of affairs in this segment, laptop manufacturers realized that for successful sales Device mobility is extremely important. That is why small laptops have become the most popular in the computer market lately. Carrying a gadget with you to work or taking it on business trips, being able to connect to the necessary accounts, is the main thing.

Not everyone will want to carry around a sixteen-inch laptop weighing three or more kilograms everywhere, and therefore we present to your attention a list of the most successful models, which includes small laptops from different manufacturers. The term “small” refers to thin and light gadgets with a display diagonal not exceeding 14 inches. In addition, we will outline the noteworthy characteristics of each laptop and find out how much a small laptop from a particular brand costs.

Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook

The XPS 13 weighs just 1.36 kilograms, but in our list it can be called a heavyweight. I’m glad that with such little weight and relatively small dimensions (316 x 205 x 18 mm), the owner can count on a very good 13-inch display with a resolution of 3200 by 1800 pixels.

In principle, Dell managed to fit a 13-inch screen into an 11-inch laptop body, leaving the outer frames a little more than 5 millimeters. That is, it turned out to be a laptop small size with a quite “adult” display.

The performance of the model is also excellent: the fifth generation of Intel processors (i5) and a good clock speed of 2.4 GHz. Depending on the specific model of the series, there may be 4 or 8 GB of RAM, 512 GB or 1 TB of hard drive capacity and a built-in HD Graphics 4400 video card from the same Intel. The result is a very powerful and at the same time small laptop. What this type of laptop is called is clear from the name - ultrabook.

Distinctive features of the series

In addition to good filling, the gadget was equipped with a sensible and capacious battery. According to the manufacturer, time battery life in standard mode it fluctuates within 9 hours, which is good news.

Owners speak very warmly about the XPS 13 series: excellent display, powerful hardware that allows you to work with any, even the heaviest, applications, and enviable battery life. This pleasure will cost quite a hefty sum, but it’s worth it.

Estimated cost - from 87,000 to 109,000 rubles.

Apple Macbook Air 11

If we talk about the weight of a laptop and its dimensions, then probably the smallest laptop Macbook Air 11 from Apple immediately comes to mind. The company has invested a lot of effort and money into its brainchild so that it becomes a worthy competitor to the phablets and tablets that have flooded the market. In fact, this line gave impetus to the concept of a “small laptop”. What is the name of such a gadget, mentioned above - an ultrabook. In general, the line of MacBooks has never officially been included in the ultra-group, but due to its lightness, size and good power, it’s hard to call the model any other way.

The gadget weighs only 1.08 kilograms and many owners have dubbed the laptop a “typewriter,” because for all its undeniable advantages, the device does not always have enough power. The model is clearly not suitable for solving some complex tasks and games at maximum settings, and “Retina” has not yet reached the line - the screen resolution is only 1366 by 768 pixels.

Distinctive features of the model

Nevertheless, the fifth-generation Intel processor, 4 GB of RAM and the discrete HD 6000 video chip cope with most everyday tasks, and quite well at that.

Small laptops from Apple Air 11 series work quietly for up to 9 hours without recharging. If you load the device with graphics or high-resolution video, the battery life will decrease to 5-6 hours.

In general, owners speak positively about the model: a light, thin and stylish “little thing.” Some were disappointed by the modest performance and the strange innovation on the keyboard (changes in some familiar symbols), but otherwise it is still the same consistent quality from Apple.

Estimated cost - from 65,000 to 85,000 rubles.

Acer Aspire S7

Small laptops of the S7 series from Acer are distinguished by their stylish appearance, conciseness and, naturally, small dimensions along with lightness (weight - 1.3 kg). The main design feature of the gadget is its pure white front side with a glass coating. The appearance of the gadget is rather strict, and you won’t see any frivolous notes here.

The Aspire S7 is a small, powerful laptop with a good set of chipsets: the latest generation processor from Intel (i7), operating at a frequency of 2 GHz, a good built-in HD 4400 series graphics card, 8 GB of RAM on board and a high-speed hard drive (SSD) on 256 GB.

Features of the gadget

In addition, the device boasts a good screen matrix with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, which is very good for a 13-inch display. There are all the necessary ports and interfaces for working with peripherals, and all wireless protocols are supported.

In general, the model turned out to be successful, but some owners complain about the battery life (about 7 hours). If you look at how much the small Aspire S7 laptop costs, it becomes not very clear why the manufacturer did not equip the device with a more capacious battery, like the above-mentioned analogues.

The estimated cost is about 87,000 rubles.

Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A

The UX21A model from the Zenbook series is a small, cheap laptop with an 11.6-inch screen diagonal. The device weighs only 1.1 kilograms and has corresponding dimensions - 196 x 299 x 17 mm.

A good set of chipsets is responsible for the performance: the latest generation Intel processor operating at a frequency of 1.9 GHz, a built-in HD 4000 series video card, 4 GB of RAM on board and a high-speed 128 GB hard drive. The screen layout is more than acceptable for such dimensions - 1920 by 1080 pixels. The performance of the matrix can be called satisfactory, because some owners complain about insufficient viewing angles: with one friend you can look through photos or watch videos, but in the company of several like-minded people, this is no longer possible.

The battery life can be called normal - about 5-6 hours in standard mode. The model itself is small, so equipping the device with a capacious battery is almost impossible.

Estimated price - from 40,000 to 70,000 rubles.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

With its weight of 1.3 kilograms and dimensions (331 x 226 x 19 mm), this model boasts a 14-inch display and a good screen layout - 2560 by 1440 pixels. The device looks very elegant and rich, especially for its price.

Moreover, in addition to attractive mobile characteristics, the gadget distinguished itself with cosmic power: a top-end processor from Intel of the latest generation, operating at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, a high-speed 512 GB SSD hard drive, an excellent video card from the HD 5500 series and 8 GB of RAM on board. All this allows you to solve the most complex problems and play modern games at maximum settings.

In addition, the device is equipped with a powerful and capacious battery that can easily keep the laptop running for 11 hours without charging. Many owners in their reviews complain about the prohibitive price of top models, where the ceiling can reach 150,000 rubles. But as an alternative, you can look at variable (slightly weaker) gadgets of this series, despite the fact that the mobility of the device will remain at the same level.

Estimated cost - from 90,000 to 150,000 rubles.

A small laptop is a very convenient thing. On the one hand, this is a full-fledged computer, that is, not a netbook or a tablet, but on the other hand, it is different small in size, so it is convenient to take it with you. In addition, such a laptop is very light and even a child can carry it with him.

As for how we determined the ten best small laptops, we had several criteria, namely:

  • screen size – 12-14 inches (according to the official definition, netbooks include models with a diagonal of 7-12 inches, and everything else is laptops);
  • the model is very popular on Yandex.Market (score 5.0 or 4.5 and high popularity), as well as on the websites price.ua and hotline.ua;
  • Excellent value for money and quality.

This is how we got our top ten today.

1. Lenovo THINKPAD T460s Ultrabook

Although not the smallest, it is quite a powerful and inexpensive Lenovo laptop that has won the hearts of many fans of such technology.

Interestingly, there are quite a few modifications of this model. But the most powerful of them has a wonderful Intel processor Core i7, 14-inch screen diagonal and SSD drive.

As you know, these types of computer memory media work much faster than classic HDD hard drives. Among other things, the Lenovo THINKPAD T460s Ultrabook has an excellent IPS display (this type is the best for a laptop) with a resolution of 2560x1440.

Other technical characteristics of this little beauty are:

  • RAM – minimum 4 GB, maximum 20 GB;
  • 512 GB hard drive (there are different variants in modifications, but the minimum volume is 128 GB);
  • battery life lasts 10 hours;
  • price – 1500 dollars (average).

2. Lenovo THINKPAD X1 Carbon Ultrabook

And in second place in our TOP is another excellent representative of Lenovo.

The specifications here are a little more modest than in the THINKPAD T460s, but the X1 Carbon also holds its own. In general, all Lenovo equipment, except smartphones, are of truly high quality.

Lenovo THINKPAD X1 Carbon also boasts an SSD drive of 512 GB maximum (minimum 192 GB).

In principle, this model is very similar to the previous one. This applies to the screen (the same IPS with a resolution of 2560x1440), the processor (the same frequency and model) and much more.

But the main difference is that the X1 Carbon has a battery life of 11 hours rather than 10, but it has a maximum RAM capacity of 16GB. In any case, great model!

Here are a few more features of the silver medalist in our rating:

  • dual-core processor with a frequency of up to 2600 MHz for each core (!);
  • there is a fingerprint scanner and a slot for a Kensington lock (nowadays such a set is rare);
  • price – 1350 dollars.

3. ASUS UX30

ASUS UX30 closes the top three. Yes, here we are not talking about such high and “tasty” technical characteristics as those of the two aforementioned Lenovo representatives, but in terms of price and quality ratio this model is more than ideal!

Interestingly, the volume hard drive ASUS UX30 has 500 GB (maximum, minimum 250 GB). True, HDD is already used here.

All standard communications are present in this laptop. So there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VGA, HDMI interfaces and much more.

Yes, and the processor used here is a little weaker - Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Solo with a maximum frequency of 1400 GB. But all this fun costs (attention!) $500.

If you take the same technical specifications as the ASUS UX30 and look for other laptops with them, you will find out that they all cost at least 200 bucks more.

Here are the technical characteristics we are talking about:

  • screen diagonal – 13.3 inches (resolution – 1366x768);
  • RAM – minimum 3 GB, maximum 4 GB;
  • 3250 mAh battery (for comparison, the Lenovo THINKPAD X1 Carbon Ultrabook has 3100 mAh).

4. MSI GS43VR 6RE Phantom Pro

Now we return to the performance heavyweights. ASUS UX30 may not have been one of them, but in terms of price and quality it beat everyone except Lenovo from the first and second places in our TOP.

So, MSI GS43VR 6RE Phantom Pro also has a Core i7 processor with a 2600 MHz frequency for each core. There are 4 of these cores in total.

Interestingly, this model uses a HDD+SSD combination. Of course, it cannot provide as much power as a pure SSD, but the computer still works quite quickly with such a storage medium.

On all of the above-mentioned computers, you could choose one of the operating systems - Windowsdows, DOS, Linux, and so on, but the MSI GS43VR 6RE can only have Windowsdows 10, and the Home version.

Its features are:

  • 14-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080;
  • RAM 32 GB (minimum 16 GB);
  • 6 GB of video memory (this is just great for games);
  • hard drive minimum 1128 GB, maximum 1512 GB;
  • price – 1500 dollars.

5. Apple MacBook Air 13 Early 2016

Apple products have always been famous for their great attention to advertising, and not to technical characteristics. But the MacBook Air 13 model dispels this opinion a little. Everything here really works very well, quickly and efficiently. At the same time, the service life of such a laptop is quite long.

Part of this is due to the fact that the Apple MacBook Air 13 Early 2016 uses 8 GB of RAM and an SSD drive. This is truly a very powerful combination that gives excellent results!

Like all laptops from the Apple company, it can only use one operating system, Mac OS. Despite this, the laptop really deserves attention.

Here are some technical specifications of the 2016 MacBook Air 13:

  • 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1440x900;
  • Core i5 processor with 2 cores with a frequency of 2200 MHz (minimum 1600 MHz);
  • built-in memory – 128 GB minimum and 512 GB maximum;
  • the device operates for 12 hours without recharging in active use mode;
  • price – 850 dollars.

6. DELL Vostro 5468

In this case, we are talking about the improved DELL Vostro 5468 model with an Intel Core i5 7200U processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive.

It is also clear that the machine is quite powerful and will work for a long time. Of course, it is not the most powerful and not the best in terms of price/quality ratio, but it definitely deserves a place in the top ten.

The only disadvantage is that users do not have the option of choosing an operating system - there is only Windowsdows 10 Home. Otherwise, the DELL Vostro 5468 is a great little computer that can outshine many more well-known models.

Here are some more characteristics of the DELL Vostro 5468:

  • processor frequency – 2500 MHz (the processor itself is dual-core);
  • hard drive type – HDD;
  • 2 GB video memory;
  • 14-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768;
  • there is a backlit keyboard and a fingerprint scanner;
  • price – 650 dollars.

7. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air

Xiaomi is a very famous Chinese brand known for its excellent smartphones. They are all ahead of their time. For example, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has 10 cores - this is not found in any other phone yet.

As for laptops, the Mi Notebook Air is definitely good model, but what can be said about the smartphones of this company cannot be said about it. Although the combination of an SSD drive and 8 GB of RAM, which we mentioned above when talking about the Apple representative, is also present here.

The rest of the characteristics are also very good.

Here's what we're talking about:

  • Core i5 processor with two cores with a frequency of 2300 MHz;
  • screen with a diagonal of 13.3 inches and a resolution of 1920x1080;
  • internal memory capacity – 256 GB;
  • battery life – 9.5 hours;
  • pre-installed operating system Windowsdows 10 Home (also the only option);
  • price – 850 dollars.

True, the video card here is rather weak - NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 1 GB video memory. Not enough - let's face it!

8. ASUS ZENBOOK UX303UB

And here is one interesting representative of ASUS. ZENBOOK UX303UB is, in a sense, the “sibling” of the UX30. They are very similar in many characteristics.

For example, the screen diagonal of both is 13.3 inches. But the model in eighth place in our today’s ranking also has its own unique features. For example, the minimum amount of RAM in the ASUS ZENBOOK UX303UB is 128 GB, and the maximum is 1000 GB, that is, almost 1 TB.

It is also interesting that in this case there are three screen resolution options available - 1366x768, 1920x1080 and 3200x1800. Each user can choose the best option for themselves.

The characteristics of ASUS ZENBOOK UX303UB are as follows:

  • video memory – 2 GB;
  • preinstalled operating system – Windowsdows 10 (users also have no choice, although they can choose between the Home and Pro versions);
  • processor – Core i5 or Core i7 at 2300 MHz or 2500 MHz (in any case, two cores);
  • RAM – 4 GB minimum and 12 GB maximum;
  • screen type – IPS;
  • price – 1300 dollars.

It is also worth noting that the user can choose the type of hard drive – HDD or SSD.

9. DELL LATITUDE E5470

And again, DELL makes us very happy with a wonderful little laptop that can satisfy the needs of any, even the most fastidious consumer.

It is important that the user has a large number of operating system options, and the lack of such was one of the biggest drawbacks of many of the above-mentioned models.

So the user can choose Linux, Windows 10 Professional, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Professional 64 and Windows 8 Professional. It's really cool!

The user can also choose one of three processors – Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7. In this case, the minimum number of processor cores is 2 (maximum is 4), and the minimum frequency is 2300 MHz (maximum is 2700 MHz). Overall, a very, very good example.

Here are its technical features:

  • screen diagonal – 14 inches;
  • there are two screen resolution options – 1366x768 or 1920x1080;
  • RAM – 4 GB minimum and 16 GB maximum;
  • video memory – minimum 1 GB, maximum 2 GB;
  • 256 GB minimum hard disk space (1000 GB maximum);
  • price – 1700 dollars.

10. HP Envy 13-d000

The top ten is completed by a representative from HP. In fact, among small laptops this is the only noteworthy example from this company.

But the Envy 13-d000 performs quite well. It also has an SSD drive, which automatically increases the speed of the entire device. Moreover, depending on the user’s wishes, the HP Envy 13-d000 can be equipped with the famous combination of 8 GB of RAM and an SSD drive. This will make it one of the fastest. The minimum amount of GB of memory is 4.

Here are some specifications of the HP Envy 13-d000:

  • 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 or 3200x1800 (again, the user can choose this);
  • screen type – IPS;
  • Core i5 or Core i7 processor at 2300 MHz minimum and 2500 MHz maximum (2 cores) – classic;
  • on the hard drive a minimum of 128 GB, and a maximum of 256 GB (not much, but SSD);
  • The laptop runs for 9 hours on battery power;
  • price – $1100 (again, on average).

Write in the comments what other laptops with a screen diagonal of 12-14 inches we forgot to mention in our TOP 10.

16.10.2016

A netbook is a versatile small laptop that is convenient to use when traveling and on business trips. A netbook is a device for freely using the Internet, working with various office applications, as well as watching movies, videos, etc.

Summarizing the entire category of netbooks, which includes the smallest laptop, we can conclude that these devices are designed for those who value lightness, mobility and versatility in technology.

If you want to buy a small laptop at affordable prices, but don’t know where you can do this, we recommend checking out the wide range of our online store of used laptops, as well as visiting our branch in Kharkov.

In order to choose a netbook, you don’t have to re-read a lot of articles; just pay attention to this article and really choose what you want.

Let's talk about what is a small laptop?

Before you decide to buy any laptop, answer the question: for what purposes do I need it? Once the purpose of the purchase becomes clear, it will be much easier to objectively assess what size laptop you need.

However, if you still decide that you need to buy a small laptop, you should take into account certain nuances.

Both a small laptop and a netbook (and even more so the smallest laptop) are not designed for constant and uninterrupted work. This is explained by several parameters:

  • the keyboard is too small for constant work;
  • small screen;
  • Not too much autonomy of the device.

Of course, we will talk about all these and other parameters in more detail, but from the first minutes you need to understand these features.

In order to work on business trips, take it with you to study or watch movies, this perfect solution and then it’s really worth buying a small laptop, but in other cases it’s worth thinking carefully about.

In addition, such models are not designed to have a CD/DVD drive. In general, it is not so necessary in such models, and if we look at it more globally, some companies do not even integrate this drive into full-fledged models.

A more noticeable difference is the complete absence of a hard drive. But how then is the internal memory provided for such a device as a small laptop whose price is much less than full-fledged models?

In netbooks, a regular SSD drive was built in as an alternative solution to the hard drive. Every manufacturer of such models claims that this does not affect the performance and data transfer speed, but is this true? Visually, no one (even the most experienced programmer) will notice the difference, but it exists and becomes more noticeable after several years of using such a model.

How to choose and buy a small laptop?

More recently, no more than five years ago, this type of technology such as a netbook was given greater preference than a classic laptop. But why? Everything was explained quite simply: the availability of such a device as a small laptop whose price is 2-3 times lower than a full-fledged model.

All the presented models had and still have a fairly small weight and size, which makes it possible to carry them with you every day without problems with the weight of the bag due to the netbook. In addition to all this, netbooks are capable of operating autonomously for quite a long time, which contributed to longer and uninterrupted operation without recharging.

After various ultrabooks, transformable laptops, more powerful tablets and other similar equipment were introduced to the world market, netbooks lost their positions, and manufacturers tried to quickly sell off the remainder. Of course, even now netbooks are affordable, versatile and mobile models that can compete with other devices.

You can buy a small laptop in our used laptop store, where the price is indeed several times lower than a new model, and the performance remains the same. You will save your time and money by choosing our online store.

But what parameters should you use to choose a small laptop that you can buy in our store?

Screen. What should you pay attention to?

Today, netbooks are produced with different screen diagonals - from 9 to 12 inches. This is done in order to attract the largest possible audience of buyers, but is it comfortable?

This screen diagonal is perfect for office programs, watching movies, using it on the road and general Internet use. But, perhaps, each of us understands and shares the opinion that the larger the screen, the more convenient it is to use a laptop. At a minimum, this is proportional to the size of the keyboard.

Such models fit perfectly into bags and are convenient to carry with you every day, but as noted earlier, if you need a laptop for every day, is a small screen suitable for you?

Netbook autonomy

One of the most important parameters that you should pay attention to before buying a small laptop is the battery capacity. If we give a more specific explanation, it will become clear that we are talking about how long the device can work in active mode without recharging.

The average battery capacity in small laptops is from 2200 mAh. This is enough for this laptop model to work in active mode for 7 to 10 hours. Manufacturers provide us with this data in their descriptions. In practice, small laptops work for about 6-8 hours and this is quite enough for such a device.

It is also worth noting an important fact: manufacturers in no way deceive their customers and the models are really capable of working all day without recharging. But there is one peculiarity: this duration is designed specifically for the economy mode.

Specifications

A modern netbook, even the cheapest one, has a processor frequency of at least 1.6 GHz. To date, some companies have offered their own processors for small laptops, but the company that has succeeded most in this area is Intel, which released a special Atom processor for such models.

RAM for small laptops is not reduced and, like on full-fledged models, has variations from one to four GB. It would seem that 4 GB of RAM is a lot for such a small laptop, which will not perform extremely complex tasks, but in order for your netbook to work for a long time without interruptions, you can choose from two to four GB.

One will not be enough, because modern operating systems require at least 700 MB. 2 GB will be optimal in terms of price and functionality.

Netbook ports

Like any other laptop, a small laptop is equipped with at least two USB ports. For what? This is explained quite simply: most often, one port is needed for a flash drive, and the other for wireless controllers such as a mouse and/or keyboard.

Basically, there are 2 ports, but the more of them, the better (the more different devices you can connect at the same time), and on the other hand, the more of them, the more expensive the laptop (even a small one).

As mentioned above, netbooks do not have a DVD drive. It automatically raises three unwanted parameters at once:

  • price;
  • sizes.

Instead of such a drive, a card reader is usually built in.
Items such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not even worth mentioning. Any modern gadget by definition has such functions.

Conclusion

If you want to buy a small laptop, but don’t know how to save money, we recommend contacting our online store or store in the city of Kharkov. Experienced sales consultants will help you choose the model according to your desire. In addition, you can really save half the money from buying a new netbook just by contacting our online used laptop store.

We found modern laptops that have good technical characteristics, while the top weight limit was only 1.36 kilograms. The range of tops turned out to be quite wide and we are sure that everyone will find something for themselves in it. ZOOM presents the ten lightest and most powerful laptops on the market. We have arranged all the models by reducing their weight in order to maintain intrigue.

Top 10 Lightest Laptops: Portable Power, Powerful Portability

IN modern world the concept of mobility has literally become hypertrophied. A few years ago, we strived to ensure that mobile phones were as compact as possible. Surely, many still remember the Samsung X830 or P300, as well as the Motorola Razr V3, which could be used to “cut” bread. But the era of smartphones brought new opportunities and phones that could only make calls turned out to be of no use to anyone. The creation and absorption of content became important, so the display diagonal gradually grew in this segment, and soon phablets appeared. It would seem that the modern user has the opportunity to work from a phablet, smartphone or tablet, but, nevertheless, laptops have not relinquished their powers.

However, mobility has become incredibly important in this segment. Still, having a good display, rich communication capabilities and a physical keyboard inseparable from the device is more important not so much for entertainment as for working in different conditions. Taking a laptop with you to the office or business trip and always being able to work and connect to a corporate account is the main thing. And this is where the question of mobility comes up again and again, because hardly anyone wants to take a powerful fifteen-inch laptop - usually such devices weigh about three kilograms, which will upset anyone. So, today we will talk about light and compact laptops.

Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook - 1.36 kg

The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook weighs only 1.36 kilograms, but is the heaviest laptop in today's top list. It’s nice that with this weight and dimensions of only 316x205x18 millimeters, the user can count on a 13-inch UltraSharp QuadHD+ display with a resolution of 3200 by 1800 pixels. Essentially, a 13-inch display was inserted into the body of an 11-inch ultrabook, and the frames were slightly more than 5 millimeters.

The power is also solid - top fifth-generation Intel Core processors (Core i5, Core i7), processor frequency varies from 1.6 to 2.4 GHz depending on the model, memory 4 or 8 gigabytes, discrete Intel HD Graphics (in the top version Intel HD Graphics 4400), solid-state drive up to 512 GB. It is important to note all the basic modern communication capabilities: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and 3.0, mini DisplayPort.

Battery life is also important - the manufacturer claims 9 hours of battery life for the laptop. This way you don't have to take Charger with you and carry around an extra few hundred grams.

Apple Macbook Air 13 and Apple Macbook Air 11 - 1.35 kg and 1.08 kg

When we talk about lightweight and compact laptops, it's impossible not to think of the Macbook Air, the line that gave birth to the Ultrabook (although MacBooks were never officially called Ultrabooks) and the concept of a lightweight, powerful work device that you can always take with you.

Apple Macbook Air comes in two versions with a 13- and 11-inch display.

Macbook Air 11 is an extremely lightweight option. The mass is only 1.08 kilograms, but in popular rumors it received the nickname “typewriter”, because for all its advantages, it does not always have enough power. Still, this is a compromise, and despite the Intel Core i5 processor with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, 4 gigabytes of RAM, discrete Intel HD Graphics 6000 graphics and an SSD with a capacity of 128 or 256 gigabytes, the Macbook Air 11 is unlikely to be suitable for solving complex tasks. The screen resolution is limited to 1366 by 768 pixels and Retina has not arrived here yet.

The 13-inch version also still does not have a Retina display, the resolution is slightly higher than that of its younger brother - 1440 by 900 pixels. The diagonal is 13.3 inches. Otherwise, they are identical. It's important to note that the Macbook Air has two USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 2 ports, and the 13-inch model also has an SD card slot.

Battery life varies slightly: the 11-inch model lasts up to 9 hours, while the 13-inch Macbook Air boasts 12 hours of battery life.

The Macbook Air is a bit of a compromise: power is sacrificed for overall lightness, but it handles everyday work needs, like answering email and office applications, perfectly while boasting long battery life and light weight.

Acer Aspire S7 - 1.3 kg

Acer Aspire S7 with a 13.3-inch display diagonal is a very beautiful laptop, appearance which is distinguished by a white front side with a glass coating. The design is very strict and laconic. Inside, the top model of the line has solid power: Intel Core i7 with a clock frequency of 2 GHz, 8 gigabytes of RAM and a 256 gigabyte SSD, discrete graphics Intel HD Graphics 4400.

Screen resolution - 2560 by 1440 pixels. All major wireless interfaces and ports are presented. Powerful, lightweight laptop great design, the only downside is the battery life - up to 7 hours.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Third Generation) - 1.3 kg

Weighing 1.3 kilograms, this ultrabook boasts a 14-inch display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. The top version, in addition to being lightweight, has close to cosmic power: an Intel Core i7 processor with a clock frequency of 2.4 GHz, 8 gigabytes of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, discrete graphics Intel HD Graphics 5500.

The battery life, according to the manufacturer, is up to 11 hours. Another funny detail - since we are talking about the Thinpad family, there is a proprietary PointStick, preserved from the days of IBM. The top version is obscenely expensive - the price tag reaches 150,000 rubles, but you can choose slightly weaker models, while mobility will remain at the same level.

MSI GS30 2M Shadow - 1.2 kg

Hand on heart, we never expected to see a gaming laptop made by MSI in our top, but the weight of 1.2 kilograms simply leaves no choice, knocking out and shocking anyone. A laptop with a 13.3-inch screen diagonal (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) has the power of the Millennium Falcon and the Enterprise combined.

Still, we have before us a gaming laptop, which, in addition to being lightweight, must demonstrate solid technical characteristics. Intel Core i7 with a clock frequency of 2.5 GHz, 16 gigabytes of RAM and two SSD drives, each with 128 gigabytes. The graphics can hardly be called “gaming”, but there is a difference compared to other laptops from our top - it has an Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200. Gaming laptops, however, usually suffer from battery life - you can count on 3-4 hours of work from battery, hardly more: this is the price to pay for compactness and powerful hardware. Well, the price of 150,000 rubles will most likely scare off many.

Acer Aspire S5 - 1.2 kg

Another representative of the “light” top from Acer. The Aspire S5 looks duller in appearance than the S7, but it is a hundred grams lighter. The ultrabook has a glossy display with a diagonal of 13.3 inches and a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. Specifications quite good: Intel Core i7 processor with a frequency of 1.9 GHz, 4 gigabytes of RAM, discrete graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a 256 GB SSD.

Battery life isn't amazing, but it's adequate at 6.5 hours. This means that during the working day, be sure to have lunch for an hour and then the device will last the whole day on one charge. The price for this version will be a little more than 100,000 rubles.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 3 Pro - 1.19 kg

This laptop from Lenovo continues the iconic series of “flexible” Yoga devices. The design allows you to use the Yoga 3 Pro as a laptop and tablet, as well as use presentation mode and console mode. On the outside there is a 13-inch display with a resolution of 3200 by 1800 pixels, and inside the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro has the latest line of processors from Intel - Core M with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, 8 gigabytes of RAM, a 256 gigabyte SSD (there is a 512 GB version ). Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 5300. The ultrabook supports Wi-Fi version 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0.

There are all the main ports here: USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 ports, micro-HDMI, 3.5 mm combo headset output, as well as a card reader for SD memory cards. The battery life is also good - more than 7 hours according to the manufacturer.

Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A - 1.1 kg

The ASUS ZENBOOK Prime UX21A has an Intel Core i7 processor with a frequency of 1.9 GHz, 4 gigabytes of RAM, a 128 gigabyte SSD and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics chip. The laptop weighs only 1.1 kg, but the display diagonal is “only” 11 .6 inches, resolution 1920 by 1080 pixels. Our top is mainly dominated by 13-inch models.

In terms of battery life, the device is not particularly surprising, demonstrating 5–6 hours.

Sony VAIO Pro SVP1322M9R - 1.06 kg

Finding Sony VAIO laptops on sale is already difficult, but it is still possible. And among the ultrabooks released by this company there is one suitable for our top. Sony VAIO Pro SVP1322M9R weighs only 1.06 kilograms and yet has good characteristics.

13.3" display with Full-HD resolution, Intel Core i5 processor with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, 4 gigabytes of RAM and a 128 gigabyte SSD, as well as a built-in Intel HD Graphics 4400 graphics card.

Apple MacBook - 0.92 kg

The absolute record holder for lightness - 920 grams. This is, of course, the new Apple MacBook (). The solution is certainly portable and mobile, but not the most straightforward. And it is this Macbook that will soon steal the title of typewriter from the Air series. It has a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2304 by 1440 pixels. Aspect ratio 16:10. Inside is an Intel Core M processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 8 gigabytes of RAM, 512 GB of internal memory in the top version and a built-in Intel HD Graphics 5300 graphics card.

The device supports the latest versions of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, but has only one port - USB-C. It is used for power supply, connecting devices and as a DisplayPort - you just need to purchase an additional adapter. The laptop will work up to 9 hours on a single battery charge. The top version with Core M at 1.2 GHz and a 512 GB drive will cost 108,990 rubles, and the version with a 256 GB drive and Core M at 1.1 GHz costs 89,990 rubles.
