Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, review of all generations. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, review of all generations of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 technical specifications

In 2005, Mitsubishi offered a new generation concept version at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show as the Concept-X.

In 2007, Mitsubishi announced the second Prototype-X concept car at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).

Freshly baked Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X externally has changed dramatically compared to its predecessor Evolution IX. New Lancer Evolution X outwardly became more aggressive. From the fender to the hood, the headlight tapers, which, together with the radiator grille and front bumper, which form the effect of an open mouth, gives the face Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X aggressiveness and chic.

In the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X a new aluminum 2-liter turbocharged engine was developed and supplied 4B11T. Due to the aluminum cylinder block, it was possible to reduce the weight by 12 kg and reduce the number harmful emissions.

Power and torque depend on the market to which the new one will be supplied. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, but all versions will have at least 276.2 hp. (JDM version). The UK model will be made in accordance with previous versions M.R. And FQ. UK versions will come with 300bhp. and 360 hp There will be 2 versions for the USA Lancer Evolution X MR with 6-speed gearbox (TC-SST) and Lancer Evolution X GSR with a 5-speed gearbox.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X like its predecessors, it has all-wheel drive. Mitsubishi has developed a new, more advanced version of the all-wheel drive system S-AWC(Super All Wheel Control), which combines the level of engine torque distribution and brake control. The system, as before, has three operating modes (Snow, Gravel and Tarmac). New Lancer Evolution X has a more advanced ASC stabilization system.

Body Lancer Evolution X became much stronger. In order to lower the center of gravity, not only the roof was made of aluminum, but also the front fenders and frame with a wing.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X become more comfortable, the interior has become spacious and comfortable. In terms of audio, the car can be equipped upon request with a 650-watt amplifier and 9 speakers.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X went on sale on October 1, 2007 in Japan, followed by January 2008 in the US, February in Canada, and March 2008 in the UK.

Final Concept 2015

Already at the very beginning of the new 2015, Mitsubishi is going to release the final copy of the Lancer Evolution X model - Final Concept. The new version is distinguished by a matte black body color (the rear spoiler and roof are made glossy), as well as original applications on the side parts. The car's wheels are mounted on black aluminum wheels with a diameter of 19 inches from RAYS with Yokohama Advan Neova tires and chrome rims. The conversion is completed with calipers from Brembo.

Under the hood is an improved 2-liter gasoline engine. Thanks to a re-flashed electronic engine control unit, installation of new cooling systems and exhaust, as well as turbines from HKS, the engineers were able to achieve an increase in power to 473 hp. The engine is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, which provides traction to all 4 wheels.

The premiere of the car will take place at the Motor Show in the Japanese city of Tokyo, and the price of the farewell version will reach $40,000.

Mitsubishi lancer evolution 10 is a sports modification of the car of the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Lancer in a sedan body. He is the extreme model of the family. The prototype of the car was originally presented under the name Concept-X in 2005. Another 2 years later, Prototype-X was introduced in North America, and within a few months the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 officially went on sale. Predecessor of the model (review).

Mitsubishi evo x became the tenth representative of its model range. In 2007, it was named the most anticipated car of the year. It is rightfully considered a modern standard of manufacturability and functionality.

Simultaneously with the advent of Mitsubishi Evolution 10, it began to collect prestigious awards around the world. One of the first developers to be awarded an award for “Best Design” in Japan. Interestingly, the craftsmen still managed to embody the spirit of previous models in a new, sharp style. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10 was the first model of the concern to use the Jet Fighter radiator grille, known for its negative slope. In addition, the front bumper has undergone changes, in a good sense of the word. Completely new air intakes were installed there, and the design of the fog lights was updated.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10

Inside the interior of the Mitsubishi Evo 10, colors and materials were used to create a feeling of spaciousness and comfort. Here, too, the designers tried to maximally instill in the driver and passengers the feeling that they are inside technological perfection.

Especially for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10, the Rockford-Fosgate audio system, which was previously found in the Outlander XL, was redesigned. The car is equipped as standard with Bluetooth and FAST Key functions.

One of the main features of the mitsubishi lancer evolution x was its 4B11T 2.0 aluminum turbocharged engine. Engine power ranges from 276 hp. up to as much as 370 hp and more, depending on the market. The car can be equipped with several types of transmission. The simplest is a 5-speed manual. At the same time, the most famous gearbox of the mitsubishi evo 10 is the robotic Twin Clutch SST. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds with a manual transmission and in 6.3 seconds with an automatic transmission.

In the new model, the manufacturer tried to use a suspension similar to the 9 Series. At the same time, they added rigidity to it and slightly calibrated it to the European style. In addition, the car body itself became more rigid, which allowed it to feel great when driving both on the highway and on moderate off-road.

Mitsubishi lancer evolution x

The design of the mitsubishi evolution 10 used disc brakes with larger discs. The designers tried to shift the center of gravity lower vertically to improve traction. To achieve this, most body parts, as well as the wing, were made of aluminum alloys.

The electronic part of the mitsubishi lancer evo x, as noted earlier, is beyond praise. Here, manufacturers used the newest and most advanced automotive systems. ETACS deserves special attention - electronic system full control of the machine, which recognizes a large number of voice commands.

The developers of mitsubishi evolution x made it not only fast, but also safe. To do this, a state-of-the-art technological innovation, the RISE system, was introduced into the car. It consists in the fact that a special structure of high-strength beams is formed around the driver and passengers. When a vehicle hits an obstacle or other vehicle, these beams are deformed in a special way, simultaneously converting most of the kinetic energy into potential.

Despite all the sportiness, technology and recognition of the model, tuning for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 remains very popular. Of course, it is less aimed at improving the technical part of the car or updating the interior design, but more about the use of unique aerodynamic elements on the car. Thus, the owners of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 are trying to give the car racing characteristics. In addition, due to the popularity of the model range, they are often equipped with underbody lighting and a powerful audio system.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10

For the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, the price starts at about $45,000. Depending on the configuration and with a 5-speed manual, you can find cheaper ones at different dealers, although it’s difficult. But a Mitsubishi Evolution 10 with Twin Clutch SST is unlikely to cost less than 50,000. Well, for additional money you have the right to demand expanded equipment, increased engine power, the introduction of safety technologies, and you can even count on a little tuning.

If the conversation turns to a fast, controllable, all-wheel drive turbocharged car, then the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X immediately comes to mind. Created exclusively for racing, it has become the calling card of the Japanese automaker. This car can often be seen at various competitions, from circuit racing and drag racing to rallies and.

In 2014, a series of statements by Mitsubishi representatives appeared that the car would be the last, but it soon became known that the XI would be given the green light and it would receive a diesel-electric power plant.

At the beginning of 2015, a series of farewell versions of the 10th generation cars were released, the most powerful of which produces an incredible 480 hp.

Design

Visually, the model is practically no different from its younger brother. There are of course a few differences, but they are barely noticeable. The front end has a sculpted hood that tapers into a huge grille. The hood climbs a little over the headlights making the appearance more aggressive. The bumper also has small round fog lights.

From the side, the sedan stands out with clear lines at the top and bottom, and the decorative gills in front of the door also look chic. Otherwise, everything is simple here. When you look from the rear, the huge spoiler immediately catches your eye. The optics also look beautiful, emphasized by the stamping on the trunk lid. The massive bumper received a huge diffuser and 2 exhaust pipes.

Dimensions of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 sedan:

  • length – 4505 mm;
  • width – 1810 mm;
  • height – 1480 mm;
  • wheelbase – 2650 mm;
  • ground clearance - 140 mm.

Specifications

The model is equipped with only one 2-liter engine, simple in design. The engine is 4-cylinder and turbocharged, its power is 295 horsepower. As a result, it accelerates the car to the first hundred in 6.3 seconds, and the top speed is 242 km/h. All torque equal to 366 H*m is transmitted to all wheels.

The unit consumes 14 liters of 98-grade gasoline in the city during quiet driving and 10 on the highway. It works in tandem with a 6-speed robotic gearbox; a 5-speed manual was also previously available, which showed higher performance in dynamics and consumed less fuel.

There are also several improved versions of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X:

  1. The FQ-330 SST is a version released in 2009 that received improvements to the engine. He received 329 horsepower and accelerated the car to hundreds in 4.4 seconds.
  2. GSR Premium Edition is a model that received only changes in design and interior trim, the technical part was not touched. It came out in 2008.
  3. The FQ400 is the same as the first model, but with 400 horsepower. Some appearance changes have also been added.
  4. Final Concept is the latest modification to be released with changes appearance. 19's wheels were installed and it was painted only black. The standard engine was improved to 480 horsepower by installing a different exhaust system, turbine and improved settings.

Salon

The interior is based on the design of the base model, but there are always characteristic features such as the Momo sports steering wheel and seats with developed lateral support. In the first models, little attention was paid to the interior of the car, because... the main ones were dynamic characteristics.

Since early models have been discontinued, the interior is worth considering. The salon traditionally copies the style of the base model. However, the incredibly comfortable Recaro seats securely hold the driver and front passenger in place. The main drawback is the lack of seat height adjustment, as well as the steering column depth. Despite this, it won’t take long for an average height driver to find a comfortable seating position.

In the center of the dashboard of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 is a large display that displays a lot of different information, be it the operating modes of the all-wheel drive system or displaying the distribution along the axes in real time.

The steering wheel is wide and pleasant to the touch, but the size of the spokes does not give it a sporty feel. Visibility is not bad, but compared to its predecessor it is noticeably worse, as if the lightness inherent in the IX is missing.

The main thing is that new car became more suitable for everyday driving. It now has a multimedia audio system with a subwoofer, heated Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X seats in the front, 9 airbags and built-in Bluetooth.

There is a little more space in the back, but like a regular Lancer, not much. The trunk is quite small, since due to improved weight distribution the battery and windshield washer reservoir were moved into it. In addition, instead of rolling, there is a full-size 18-inch spare wheel in the niche.

Chassis

A modern sedan only requires the driver to choose a trajectory, and he does the rest himself. Smart electronics monitor each wheel in real time and, based on the data received, the active differential can load a certain wheel, or the stabilization system can brake another to achieve the most accurate and safe cornering.

The suspension no longer seems as stiff as its predecessor. This slightly reduces the feeling of extreme sports that fans of the model fell in love with in 7-9 generations. However, we can say for sure that the new model is the most suitable for normal everyday use.

Price

The model was sold in only one configuration for 2,499,000 rubles, and production ceased in 2016. On the secondary market, prices vary greatly, some even reaching the price of a new sedan. None additional options is not offered, so you have to be content with what you have. Namely:

  • leather interior;
  • heated seats;
  • audio system;
  • climate control;
  • light and rain sensor;
  • xenon optics with adaptive lighting system.

This car is a legend. The model is the owner of several world rally champion titles, thanks to which it can provide its owner with all the full sensations of a real racing car. Having gone through a long path of evolution, engineers managed to leave the best genes in the DNA of this car, but the main thing remained unchanged - a powerful two-liter turbo engine, four-wheel drive, a sports interior and, as a result, fantastic speed and handling. It is not surprising, because with each model, specialists had to make every effort to be at least one step ahead of the competitors. And they succeeded regularly. One can only guess whether this tradition will continue in the new model, but we can say for sure that the car will always be at its best, because this principle is inherent in its name - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X!

Video

Surely each of us has seen the ninth Lancer. Now it can be found in almost every yard. However, few people have seen the charged version of this civilian sedan in person. So, meet the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9. The car's technical characteristics, design and cost are further in our article.

Design

This car first appeared in 2005. It became the successor to the previous generation of Lancer Evolution cars. Externally, the eighth and ninth Lancers are very similar. However, this does not apply to the civilian version of the Nine. She looks different.

Yes, this is the very familiar look of the budget C-class sedan. However, the ninth generation version of “Evolution” is radically different from the usual one. Lancer Evo 9 has a stylish and dynamic look. Tuning was done not only inside, but also outside. First of all, this concerns optics. On a regular “nine” it is more modest, triangular and extended towards the top of the wing. Here everything is the other way around. Lancer Evo 9 is a kind of formidable samurai, ready to take off at any second. The car is distinguished by a relief hood, numerous body kits and an aerodynamic bumper. The latter has a special cutout, but not for foglights, but for cold air intake. Looking ahead, we note that this car is turbocharged and equipped with an intercooler, which is why high-quality cooling is so important to it. At the rear, the dynamic image is complemented by a high speller and diffusers. The exhaust is located at the right edge of the bumper. All plastic body kits contribute to better downforce, which is necessary at high speeds.

As for the dimensions, they are almost identical to the civilian Lancer (at least they fit into the C-class). Thus, the length of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 is 4.5 meters, width - 1.77 m, height - 1.45 m. The rear and front track widths are the same and equal to 1515 millimeters. Ground clearance very small, as confirmed by the owners of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9. The tuning makes itself felt - 14 centimeters is only enough for perfectly smooth roads. It is better not to go out of town in this car. Those who want to tune their Mitsubishi Lancer 9 for Evo should take this into account.

Salon

The inside of the car is not as surprising as the outside. There are still hard plastics and civilian panel lines. The steering wheel is three-spoke, with a very comfortable grip. The center console has all the necessary controls. On more “evil” versions, “boost” sensors are additionally installed. The seats, unlike the civilian versions, are made of high-quality Alcantara and have pronounced lateral support (one might say, full-fledged “buckets”).

The speedometer on the dashboard has a scale of 0-270, the tachometer is designed for 9 thousand revolutions - this is certainly not the case in the civilian Lancer. The sportiness of the interior is added by the factory pedals, stylized as aluminum. Driving the Lancer Evo 9 is quite comfortable - the steering wheel is adjustable in two directions, the seat seems to envelop you from all sides. There is a sufficient supply of seat adjustments on both the driver's and passenger's seats. At the rear there is a three-seater sofa with a center armrest. It has built-in cup holders. There is enough space in the back, despite the fact that the Lancer Evo 9 belongs to the C-segment.

Specifications

The main difference between the Evolution model is its powerful engine. Under the hood of the Lancer Evo 9 there is a two-liter turbocharged engine with an extended diffuser and a variable valve timing system. The unit is located transversely relative to the body. The motor is marked 4G63.

Japanese engineers tried to get the most out of this two-liter engine. And they managed to do it. Thanks to the turbine and other technical implementations, the maximum engine power is 280 horsepower. Torque at 3.5 thousand revolutions is 355 Nm. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. There are no automatic transmissions for the Mitsubishi Lancer 9-Evolution.

Dynamics

Thanks to its powerful engine, the car has excellent dynamic characteristics. So, acceleration to hundreds takes 6.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption in city mode is 14.6 liters per hundred. On the highway, the Mitsubishi Lancer 9-Evolution consumes 8.2 liters of fuel. The manufacturer recommends using fuel with an octane rating of at least 98.

Motors for the USA and domestic market

It is worth noting that the power of the two-liter engine for the American market is 286 horsepower. Right-hand drive Japanese Evolution cars develop a power of 291 horsepower. Torque - 38 Nm higher compared to European version, and is 393 Nm.

Chassis

The chassis design is identical to the previous generation of Evolution cars. There is an independent MacPherson suspension at the front and a multi-link at the rear. On ordinary Lancers a beam is installed. In technical terms, not only the engine was improved, but also the braking system. The front features four-piston calipers and Brembo ventilated disc brakes. At the rear there are two-piston calipers. The diameter of the brake discs is 320 millimeters (20 mm larger at the front). The car uses all-wheel drive. Rear axle blocked by a hydromechanical coupling. can be controlled from the interior. Electronics allows you to transfer torque to the wheel that has the best grip on the road surface. This eliminates slipping.

Price

The Mitsubishi Lancer 9-Evolution was produced serially until 2007, so you can only find a copy on the secondary market. The initial cost of the car was 600 thousand rubles. However, there are also more modernized versions (the modifications are made by the owners themselves) costing 1 million rubles.

The basic equipment of Evolution includes the following elements:

  • 2 front airbags;
  • climate control;
  • 4 power windows;
  • "Momo" sports seats and steering wheel;
  • ABS system;
  • hydraulic power steering.

Modifications

Despite such a short production period, the car was subjected to various changes, in particular by professional tuning studios. Thus, the British versions of the Evolution car were equipped with FQ engines with a power of 300, 320 and 340 horsepower.

At the same time, the working volume of the 4-cylinder engine remained the same - two liters. The increase in power had a positive effect on dynamic performance. The car accelerated to hundreds in 4.1 seconds. Peak speed is 253 kilometers per hour. This modification had the index MR. For other markets, Mitsubishi was equipped with the same 280-horsepower engine. The differences were only in the exterior - the car had different aerodynamic body kits and rims.

Conclusion

So, we found out what the charged version of the Mitsubishi Lancer is. The ninth Evolution is one of the fastest cars in the world. It is a worthy competitor to the Nissan GTR, BMW M-series and Mercedes AMG.

At the 39th Motor Show in 2005 in Tokyo, the Concept-X was presented, which became the prototype of the modern Lancer Evolution 10. Externally, it is very similar to the Mitsubishi Lancer 10 and is not at all similar to its predecessor -.

History of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10

The car went on sale on October 1, 2007 in Japan, in January 2008 in the USA, and in February in Canada. Great Britain received Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 one of the most recent was in March 2008.

Among the features of the racing sedan it is worth noting the following:

  • New design engine;
  • Turbocharging;
  • Aluminium case;

Depending on the market, the model has power from 276 hp. in Japan and 370 hp. In Great Britain.

In 2010, the model was updated. A sunroof and leather upholstery are now standard, and the rear spoiler is now replaced by a regular trim.

The new Lancer Evolution 10 is the embodiment of dramatic changes compared to its predecessors. In appearance, he began to look more aggressive. Starting from the fender and towards the hood, the headlights narrow, which creates a certain effect of an open mouth and adds aggressiveness and chic.

Especially for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10, the Japanese created a 2-liter engine with an aluminum cylinder block. Thanks to this, the amount of harmful emissions has been reduced and the weight of the structure has been reduced by 12 kg. In the USA, versions are available with a 5- and 6-speed gearbox.

Like previous generations, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 has all-wheel drive. Mitsubishi Motors has developed the perfect new version all-wheel drive, combining torque distribution and brake control. As before, the system has the following operating modes:

  • Snow;
  • Gravel;
  • Tarmac;

The body of the tenth generation Evolution has become more durable and lighter. Now not only the roof, but also the frame with the wing and the front fenders are also made of aluminum. The car has become more comfortable, and the interior is spacious and comfortable.
