    2. Explain why you can’t leave without warning and go far from home, or deviate from the usual route on the way home from school. Set up an app that will show you where your child is. For example, Kaspersky Safe Kids allows you to set a safe perimeter on the map, and if children leave its boundaries, parents receive a notification.

    3. Teach not to panic in a threatening situation. Set up an SOS button on your smartphone or agree on a code word that will mean danger.

    4. Despite age restrictions on some sites, a child may need an email or social network account. Help him register, and then together come up with a complex password or create one in a special application.

    5. Discuss online shopping: what you can spend money on and how much. Set a limit on in-app purchases if your child uses your gadget, otherwise you risk one day discovering that a third of your salary was spent on virtual laser swords. If everyone in the family has phones with the same operating system, create a family account: then the system will ask you for confirmation before making online purchases from your child’s smartphone.

    6. If a teenager already has his own bank card, tell us how to use it safely: do not write down the PIN code on the card or in your phone, when transferring from account to account, do not provide any information other than the card number.

    7. Buy something online together and show them what to look for - secure connection, two-factor authentication.

    8. Help your child distinguish real charity from scammers and explain why you should not transfer money to strangers, even if it is being collected for a “good cause.”

    9. The older children get, the more time they spend on the Internet. Making their online life safer will be easier with a special application. Kaspersky Safe Kids blocks unwanted sites and sends parents notifications about new posts in in social networks and changes in the child’s friends list.

    10. Explain that you don’t need to add strangers as friends on social networks. Even if the avatar has a familiar photo, you need to make sure that the page is genuine. Kaspersky Safe Kids can help here - the application will notify parents about changes in the child’s list of friends on social networks.

    11. Teach your child to use one browser and one search site, in which you set up a family mode in advance - it will allow you to exclude some of the “adult content” from the results.

    12. Leave helpline numbers in a visible place. A teenager may not immediately come to you with his problems, so free psychological help lines can help in a difficult situation.

    13. Tell us about safety and etiquette on social networks: do not share personal information with strangers, do not post explicit photos even in a closed account, check information through other channels if a friend suddenly asks you to transfer money. At the same time, you can find out about new publications on your child’s page using a special solution.

    14. Prepare your child for the fact that they can encounter troubles on the Internet - bullying, insults or intrusive attention - and tell them how to act in such cases. Don't try to completely control your teenager, show that you trust him and are always ready to help if necessary.

    15. Teach your child to distinguish fake news from real news. The Internet is full of trolls, bots, and websites that post false information to deceive and confuse readers. All facts must be verified from reliable sources.

From today until September 10 inclusive, you can apply for training at Yandex.Lyceum. Applicants will have to go through a selection process consisting of two stages: an online test and an in-person interview. Those students who succeed will be able to start studying on October 2. Lyceum students study twice a week after 15 hours, so classes can be combined with school.

The Yandex.Lyceum program started last year in four cities: Kaluga, Penza, Saratov and Tambov. In the new academic year, they will host their second enrollment of courses. In the spring, Yandex launched training in 12 more cities; later the list was expanded to 15 additional cities in Russia and two in Kazakhstan. In total, Yandex.Lyceum has expanded to 21 cities.

According to Marina Suslova, director of Yandex.Lyceum, the first year of the program proved that the project is in demand and can be scaled up. More than 1.8 thousand applications were received for the first year, and 138 students were accepted. The company plans to open branches in all Russian cities with a population of more than 100 thousand people.

This year, Yandex.Lyceum expects to accept about a thousand students in grades 8 and 9 for the first year. Classes will be held in the premises of city schools, universities and educational centers - in total, about 60 sites participate in the program.

In three of the 19 cities - Moscow, Penza and Tambov - the Yandex.Lyceum course will be held as part of the main school curriculum, during computer science lessons. 13 Moscow schools, one Penza and one Tambov will take part in the experiment.

Yandex.Lyceum courses are designed for two years. Schoolchildren are taught programming using the Python language, which is in demand in IT companies and in the scientific community. Classes are taught by local teachers - they undergo a competitive selection, and then undergo training at Yandex. The course program was developed in

THE GRAND OPENING OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROJECT WAS HELD

On September 30, 2019, at the State Budget Educational Institution School No. 120 of the Vyborg District of St. Petersburg, an educational project was opened for schoolchildren who want to learn how to program - Yandex.Lyceum.

The head of the center for informatization of education of the information and methodological center of the Vyborg region, Andrey Vladimirovich Ovechkin, was present at the grand opening. After welcoming words, he solemnly presented the lyceum students with memorable gifts from the Yandex company, and wished to preserve their determination, as well as strength and perseverance in mastering the new educational program.

According to the head of the project site, deputy director for water management of the school, Alexey Sergeevich Kozlov, “Yandex.Lyceum gives schoolchildren the opportunity to gain free knowledge and skills in the field of programming using the Python language, one of the most popular programming languages, as an example. This knowledge will subsequently be enough to work as an intern or junior developer. In fact, at the end of the training, which lasts 2 years, the guys who successfully complete it will receive a profession.”

This academic year, the only project site opened in the area, so the competition was very large. After two stages of selection, out of 43 candidates, only 15 were accepted for training. These are children not only from different schools in the Vyborg district, but also from neighboring districts - Primorsky and Kalininsky. All candidates who were not selected and did not achieve a sufficient rating will be able to try again next year.

After the ceremonial part, all the lyceum students went to the “zero” lesson with their teacher - Anna Aleksandrovna Mikheeva, teacher of computer science and programming at GBOU school No. 120 of the Vyborg district. In August 2019, the teacher completed specialized training and internship at Yandex. During the lesson, the guys got to know each other, learned about how classes are conducted in the LMS system, how the rating of lyceum students is formed and why they can be expelled. They have two years of study ahead of them in a program developed at the School of Data Analysis, whose graduates are highly valued in the labor market. The program is divided into two parts, each lasting one academic year. During the first year, children get acquainted with theory and master technologies in practice; the second year is devoted to educational projects.

Classes will begin on October 3, they will be held in the evenings twice a week.

We wish all lyceum students 1 year of study 2019-2020 - GOOD LUCK!
