Note to parents: everything about the Unified State Exam in mathematics. Base or profile: Unified State Examination in mathematics

The modernization of school education is associated with the emergence of specialized training in secondary schools, the separation of basic and specialized levels in the content of subject areas, and increased accessibility to secondary and higher education. The division into basic and specialized levels is a good opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge, abilities and skills.

The terms “basic” and “profile” level are most often found at the senior level of basic general (complete) education. We can talk about the curriculum, the content of work programs, the level of mastery of the subjects being studied, or the unified state exam.

The basic level is required when studying any subject area included in the curriculum at the senior level of study. It is believed that if a student masters a subject at a basic level, then he has a solid “C”. The basic level is quite simple in content and is designed for the average student. As for the Unified State Exam, the basic level has not been developed in all subject areas. For example, in mathematics there is a division into basic and specialized levels, but the Russian language does not imply such a division.

In addition, basic-level mathematics on the Unified State Exam is assessed on a traditional five-point scale and does not provide for conversion to a 100-point scale, while mathematics at the profile level is assessed on a 100-point scale. There are also differences in the time allotted for completing Unified State Exam tasks - at the basic level it is allotted 180 minutes, and at the profile level 235 minutes.

So the base level is different:

  • Simplicity of content.
  • The minimum number of hours allocated to study the subject.
  • A must-learn for every student.

Consequently, the graduate has the opportunity to choose which level to take for the Unified State Exam - basic or specialized.

Unlike the basic profile level is more complex, multifaceted, requiring the student to have serious, in-depth preparation in the subject being studied. It guides the graduate to choose a future profession or a higher educational institution. The set of basic and specialized items depends on the selected profile. For example, at the chemical-biological profile, subjects such as social studies, history, and physics are studied at the basic level, and chemistry, biology and mathematics are studied at the profile level.

As a rule, more hours are allocated to core subjects in the curriculum than to studying basic-level subjects. For example, in the socio-economic profile, 3 or more hours per week are allocated for the study of social studies, and 1 hour per week is provided for the study of social studies at a basic level in the curriculum.

The advantages of the profile level include:

  • Deep content of the subject.
  • A large number of hours to study subjects at this level.
  • Focus on the future profession.

Unfortunately, not all schoolchildren are motivated to seriously study core-level subjects, and they opt for basic subjects. And many of them do not have the ability to master the chosen profiles.

Considering the complexity of the profile level, it is necessary to develop requirements for the selection of schoolchildren for admission to 10th grade. Which subject to choose for study at a basic or specialized level depends on the student, on what subjects he needs to enter a higher education institution.

It would be very good if the student had the opportunity to independently form an individual educational route, determining a set of basic and specialized subjects to study at the senior level of education. However, the set of subjects in specialized classes is strictly regulated by the curriculum and does not fully satisfy the needs of schoolchildren in studying the desired subjects that are not included in the list of specialized ones. For example, the English language is now in demand in any field, and studying it in depth is only possible within the framework of the humanities. I would like to believe that the federal state educational standard of the new generation will provide students with the opportunity to have more free choice in drawing up an individual curriculum. Accordingly, this will help improve the quality of education.

To write a good exam in mathematics, you need to decide on your plans for the future and correctly assess your strengths.

If you have great difficulty understanding mathematics and feel insecure, then it is better to focus on the main tasks of the exam - part B. Your goal is not to get 100 points, but to pass the exam. Correctly solved all tasks of part B give 63 test points or a solid 4. The tasks of part B are based on the basic topics of the school mathematics course, and do not represent anything particularly abstruse. Part C is more complicated; the tasks in this part, although they are worth more points, are not suitable for everyone. Therefore, it is better to spend time and energy during the exam on solving and checking the tasks of part B, than to grab part C and make mistakes everywhere.

How can you lose points?

Most often, points are lost due to stupid mistakes: a lost minus, a typo, an incorrect calculation. Remember that the Unified State Exam tasks are selected so that everything is solved and specific answers are obtained. That is, if you suddenly get a negative discriminant or an infinite decimal fraction on an exam, you made a mistake somewhere! We need to go back and count everything.

How to understand a difficult topic

Any difficult topic in mathematics in high school is based on some topics already covered. For example, to understand trigonometric functions in 10th grade, you need to understand and understand what sines-cosines are from the geometry course and remember the functions.

Don’t just repeat the rules, but try to understand and understand why sines and cosines are determined only and exclusively for right triangles, and not for everyone? And what is a function anyway? Yes, school textbooks cannot give a comprehensive answer, and they are often written in an incomprehensible language.

In order to understand the incomprehensible, you always need to look for answers somewhere else. Remember, there are comprehensive, simple, understandable explanations on the Internet for any topic in the school curriculum. You just need to be able to find them.

Mathematical topics on Wikipedia are written in abstruse, dry language, search forums for teachers http://www.zavuch.ru/forum/topic/1109/, they often discuss the topic “how to explain a topic so that children can understand it.” Look for special sites, such as “mathematics for beginners” http://www.egesdam.ru/page280.php, “mathematics for blondes” http://www.webstaratel.ru/.

The ability to work with additional sources and find answers to your questions is an integral part of self-education.

To avoid confusion in your head, get yourself a notebook or a folder on your computer where you will take notes. Human memory is such that what is read once is easily forgotten. We must repeat, re-read, realize again. The best way to remember something is to read it, repeat it after 15 minutes, then after 2 hours and again after 24 hours.

It’s great if you’re lucky with a tutor who knows how to explain things that you don’t understand. Don’t be afraid to ask your tutor questions and seem stupid and ignorant - to a good teacher, your questions will help them understand where your gaps in knowledge are, and he will be able to clarify unclear points.

Unfortunately, most schoolchildren often ask themselves and their teachers the question “how to solve this correctly?”, not wanting to go into details. If you often ask the question “why?” and try to understand it - you will know mathematics perfectly well. And you will not have any problems passing the exam successfully.

For two years now, the Unified State Examination in mathematics has been divided into two exams - basic and specialized. Let's look at the most important thing: what are the differences between the exams and what is each of them for?

Let's look at the two levels of the Unified State Examination in mathematics in more detail.

BASIC LEVEL OF USE IN MATHEMATICS

  1. Consists of one part - 20 tasks with a short answer (the answer to each of the tasks can be an integer, a final decimal fraction or a sequence of numbers)
  2. Exam duration - 3 hours

As can be seen from the graph, the basic exam contains tasks of three difficulty levels. The largest amount is allocated to tasks at grades 1–6. Solving all problems from this block ensures passing the exam.

Who should take only the basic exam:

  • For applicants to philology, theater and other specialties where the Unified State Examination result in mathematics is not required as an entrance exam
  • For students who decide to pass the basics already in 10th grade in order to devote more time to subjects important for admission
  • Poorly studied, missed the 10-11 grade program in mathematics

Pros of choosing a basic exam:

  • saving time on preparation
  • no costs for a tutor
  • opportunity to take the exam in 10th grade

Minuses:

  • limitation of choice of specialties
  • Preparation difficulties may arise if you decide to take the profile at the last moment

PROFILE LEVEL OF THE USE IN MATHEMATICS

  1. It consists of two parts - 9 tasks with a short answer in the first, 5 tasks with a short answer and 7 tasks with a detailed answer in the second.
  2. Exam duration - 3 hours 55 minutes

In the profile exam, there are also simple tasks from the syllabus for grades 1–6, but unlike the base, their number is reduced to two, and the wording itself is slightly more complicated. A fairly large block of tasks is allocated to the program for grades 7–9 - 8 tasks, 7 of which are quite easy and one difficult task in geometry. The remaining tasks are divided into material that should be learned in grades 10–11 and 2 tasks at the Olympiad level. Olympiad tasks are not included in the school curriculum and must be mastered independently or in classes with a tutor.

Who should take only the specialized exam:

  • Students who want to enroll in technical universities.
  • For those who decide to apply not only for humanities specialties, but also for related areas: public relations, personnel management, etc.
  • Those who want to try their hand at the profile.

Advantages of choosing a specialized exam:

  • wider choice of specialties
  • the opportunity to use the results for admission to related specialties

Minuses:

  • complex preparation
  • Additional training is required for best results

! What you need to remember if both a profile and a base are selected.

The decision to also take the basic level can significantly complicate life for those who need a profile.

Applicants for some reason who did not pass the profile exam on day 1 (due to health reasons, could not cope with nerves, spoiled the form, etc.) are not allowed to retake if they also chose the basic exam. Therefore, if you are confident in your abilities and are going to apply only to areas where the result of a specialized exam is required, consider refusing the basic level, even if the school insists on passing it.

Now that we have figured out what the Unified State Examination in mathematics is, we are sharing with you tips that will definitely help you in the exam.

  1. Hints are in the tasks themselves.
When completing tasks from the Unified State Exam, you will certainly come across such wording in the task “Round your answer to hundredths” or “Round your answer to whole numbers.” This instruction will help you avoid making a mistake. If the answer turns out to be a whole number without rounding, it means there was an error in the solution and you should solve the problem again.
  2. Olympic tasks.
Just above we said that there are 2 such tasks in the profile exam and both are not included in the school curriculum. Often students do not even try to solve these problems. But even completing part of such a task will earn you a few points. Try it!
  3. Use the Unified State Exam standards.
Please remember that answers in the first part of the exam must always be a whole number or a decimal. If your answer turns out to be a number with a root, it means that the answer is incorrect and requires double-checking.

, is a mandatory exam for 11th grade graduates. Statistically, it is the most difficult.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with general information about the exam and begin preparing immediately. The 2019 exam is no different from last year - this applies to both the basic and specialized options.

Basic level of the Unified State Examination

This option is suitable for graduates in two cases if:

  1. you will not need mathematics to enter a university;
  2. you do not intend to continue your studies after graduation.

If your chosen specialty has a field with the subject “mathematics,” then the basic level is not your option.

Basic Exam Scoring

The formula for converting primary scores into test scores is updated every year and becomes known after the early period of the Unified State Exam. A decree from Rosobrnadzor has already been issued, which officially established the correspondence of primary and test scores in all subjects for 2019.

According to the order, in order to pass the basic Unified State Exam in mathematics with at least a C, you need to score 12 primary points. This is equivalent to completing any 12 tasks correctly. The maximum initial score is 20.

Basic Exam Structure

The 2019 Basic Level Math test consists of 20 short answer questions that are either a whole number, a finite decimal, or a sequence of numbers. The answer must either be calculated or choose one of the proposed options.

Profile level of the Unified State Examination

This Unified State Exam in 2019 is no different from the Unified State Exam last year.

It is the profile level that graduates must pass for admission to universities, because in the vast majority of specialties mathematics is indicated as the main subject for admission.

Profile test assessment

There is nothing specific here: as usual, you collect initial points, which are then converted into test scores. And already using a 100-point system you can determine the mark for the exam.

In order for the exam to be accepted, it is enough to score 6 primary points. To do this, you need to solve at least 6 tasks of part 1. The maximum initial score is 32.

Structure of the profile test

In 2019, the Unified State Exam test in mathematics at the profile level consists of two parts, including 19 tasks.

  • Part 1: 8 tasks (1–8) of basic difficulty level with a short answer.
  • Part 2: 4 tasks (9–12) of an increased level of complexity with a short answer and 7 tasks (13–19) of an increased and high level of complexity with a detailed answer.

Preparation for the Unified State Exam

  • Pass Unified State Exam tests online for free without registration and SMS. The tests presented are identical in complexity and structure to the actual exams conducted in the corresponding years.
  • Download demo versions of the Unified State Examination in mathematics, which will allow you to better prepare for the exam and pass it easier. All proposed tests have been developed and approved for preparation for the Unified State Exam by the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI). All official versions of the Unified State Exam are developed in the same FIPI.
  • Check out with basic formulas to prepare for the exam, they will help refresh your memory before starting to complete the demo and test options.

The tasks that you will see most likely will not appear on the exam, but there will be tasks similar to the demo ones, on the same topic or simply with different numbers.

A couple of years ago, the unified state exam in mathematics was divided into two categories - and basic. The profile exam in mathematics is taken by students entering technical and economic specialties, and the basic exam by those entering humanitarian specialties.

If USE scores in mathematics are not taken into account when entering a university, it is better to pass the basic exam in mathematics. The basic exam is enough to get a certificate, and it is much easier to pass than the specialized one! So what should you choose, and what are the nuances of each of the two types of exams?

The results of passing the Unified State Exam of the basic category are recognized by general education institutions as the results of the state final certification.

The tasks of the basic category are quite simple: it is intended to certify applicants who do not intend to continue training in professions that require special conditions for the degree of mathematical training. That is, applicants who passed this category of exam will not be able to enroll in universities who specialize in exact sciences, according to the results of the Unified State Exam.

Applicants with average academic performance are faced with the difficult question of whether to decide and try to pass the exam of the profile category or whether to opt for the basic one. For those future applicants who have decided on their future choice of profession, there is no dilemma, but what about the rest?

According to the current trend in recent years, competition for humanities and technical specialties will continue to grow. Therefore, when you start preparing for the Foundation exam, make sure that you will pass it if necessary. During the academic year, build up the necessary knowledge to the level of the specialized category. In this case, you will begin to limit yourself in choosing a future specialty only by personal desires, and not by fear of a difficult exam.

What is the difference

Math exam profile level consists of 19 tasks.

The first part is 12 simple problems to which you only need to give an answer.

The second part is 7 difficult tasks. In addition to the answer, they require a competent, reasoned and correct decision.

In exam tasks basic level 20 problems that require an extremely concise answer.
The profile category exam is assessed on a 100-point scale, the lowest score being 28.
The basic category exam is graded on a 5-point scale, the lowest score being 3.

Is the basic profile easier?

To begin with, these are twenty tasks, besides no choice of answers. There is an opinion that the Unified State Exam is a “guessing game”, a “stupid test”, that you can enter the answers at random and get an A for it. Try to guess the twenty correct answers! Without the necessary knowledge in mathematics, it will not work.

It means that need to find a solution to twenty tasks in a row. You must be focused, confident, and be able to quickly and accurately calculate basic arithmetic operations without the help of a calculator.

Assignments are taken from all topics studied school curriculum. These are not problems like “what is one plus one?”

Along with the ticket for the basic Unified State Exam in mathematics, you will be given the necessary. If you have a penchant for humanitarian subjects and have forgotten the formulas of geometry or the algebraic meaning of an integral, do not worry - it will be written in your reference book. The most important thing is that you do not see all these formulas for the first time during the exam.

Note!
The exam schedule is usually made in such a way that the difference between the basic and specialized Unified State Exam is only one day. Therefore, those who do not doubt their own abilities and are confident that they can pass the profile exam with flying colors can refuse to take the basic exam in advance.

The Unified State Exam in mathematics, especially the basic level, is not so difficult! The most important thing is to remember in a timely manner that it exists, and to it!
