Electrician Toolkit Overview

Hand tools should be available to all people who perform electrical work, whether they are professional electricians or carry out relevant activities at home.

This variety includes the following tools and materials:

  1. Indicator screwdriver. It is not intended to perform the functions of the classical version of this instrument, its main task is to determine the phase.
  2. Screwdriver set of different sizes and with a different shape of the working surface, but all tools must be of the dielectric variety, that is, have a handle with insulation that protects against
  3. Ticks designed to remove the insulating layer from the conductors. They are the main assistant if a large number of electrical work is planned, since they can significantly save time on stripping wires.
  4. Ticks, designed for twisted pair crimping, will be required for crimping cable cores if low-current wiring is being installed.
  5. Roulette with a solid ruler, which does not make unnecessary unbends in the process of unwinding.
  6. Files and files different shapes, the handles must be insulated.
  7. Chisels, differing in the dimensions of the working surface, will be required for electrical work in wooden houses.
  8. Hammer in the set of an electrician it can be one and universal, but it is best to have options with different masses of the striker.
  9. Chisel necessary to perform the functions of a rotary hammer, if the size of the tool does not allow its use, or a high level of accuracy is required.
  10. Knife, designed specifically for stripping conductors, has a special blade structure to make it easier to use for this process.

The approximate cost of the set is 85,000 rubles.

Basic Tools

The most necessary tools that any electrician should have:

  1. Tester or multimeter, since determining the current in the network may be required when carrying out any type of electrical work.
  2. Dielectric screwdrivers in the range, which are the most important tool that can be required at any given time.
  3. Pliers so that multiple conductors can be cut or stranded.
  4. Knife for stripping conductors and their subsequent connection.
  5. Insulating tape.
  6. soldering iron and all necessary soldering accessories.

All other fixtures that will be shown below are auxiliary and designed to be ready for anything.

Measuring instruments

Measuring instruments- this is another important component of the inventory of any electrician, since without them it is impossible to carry out most types of work.

It is important to have the following types of devices:

Universal multimeter

Which combines several devices at once and is a multifunctional device. The number of tasks it performs depends on the specific model chosen. There are varieties designed specifically for professional electricians, they allow you to quickly and accurately determine parameters such as resistance, capacitance and inductance within an electrical circuit.

Current clamp

Designed to determine the parameters of the electric current that flows through the cable. The main advantage is the fact that the device performs this task without direct contacts with the conductive area and does not require breaking the circuit.

In addition, it contains probes in its design that allow you to determine the level of both direct and alternating voltage and resistance in the circuit. An ammeter can also perform the functions of a current clamp, but they are a more modern type of measuring equipment.

Megohmmeter

It is necessary to determine the quality of the insulation in the circuit. Its design includes a dynamo to generate a potential equal to 500 V, 1000 V or 2500 V, when measuring the leakage current, the device will show the resistance of the circuit.

Wattmeter

Helps to determine the power of electric current or the parameters of electromagnetic signals. There are optical, low frequency and radio frequency varieties.

multimeter

Performs all functions of an ohmmeter, but sometimes you need to have this device separately, it is designed to measure electrical active resistances.

Voltmeter

Designed to determine the level of voltage or electromotive force within an electrical circuit.

power tools

When carrying out many electrical work, it is not enough to have ordinary hand tools and measuring instruments; power tools may also be required to perform a number of tasks:

Perforator

Is the most important power tool in any electrician's inventory, this is due to the convenience of work and versatility. With it, you can practice any kind of drilling and use this tool, regardless of the material of which the surface consists.

The modern market offers a wide range of models of rotary hammers, there are household and professional types. Among other things, it can be used to beat off plaster, prepare cement mortars and perform other tasks.

Hammer drill

In some cases, it can replace a puncher, but it is a less functional power tool, because it has less power and it lacks a number of operating modes.

In some cases, it can act as a screwdriver. It is not recommended to use the impact drill for a long time without interruption, as this may adversely affect its quality.

Screwdriver or cordless drill

Designed for small drilling and fast screwdriving. Each function has its own speed setting.

Angle grinder

This is an apparatus that is known to most under the name grinder. It can perform a number of different functions: grinding surfaces, sawing stone or metal objects.

It is a special kind of power tool, which in its design is close to an angle grinder. The main working element is a cutter or several diamond discs installed parallel to each other.

During operation, it produces a lot of construction dust, for this reason it has a special outlet, which is connected to the vacuum cleaner through a hose. It is not actually used for domestic purposes, the tool is more in demand at industrial facilities in the implementation of professional activities.

Auxiliary tools

In order to be ready for anything and have the most complete inventory of necessary tools, it can be further expanded to include the following devices:

  1. Extended set of drills and bits designed for puncher. Their presence significantly increases the list of features and functionality of this power tool.
  2. Wiring belt, a special bag and a pouch for a puncher or screwdriver are not tools in their essence, but at the same time they perform important functions when transporting or storing electrical equipment. No professional electrician can do without these elements, since the presence of a large number of tools can make it difficult to find them, and special storage devices allow you to systematize this process.
  3. Hex bit, which is a special kind of working nozzles used in conjunction with a screwdriver when working with hex screws. Electricians do not use this device very often, but in some cases it may be useful to them.
  4. Drill bits for concrete, which are fundamentally different from drills designed for wood and metal surfaces. The design is arranged in such a way that the device is not clamped into the drill, but is inserted into the puncher. In such drills there are several longitudinal grooves with a symmetrical arrangement, this allows crushing stone or concrete surfaces using a percussion mechanism.
  5. Concrete crowns with diamond teeth will be needed to mount the socket in concrete surfaces.
  6. Crowns for ceramics with a diamond tip and the same chips around the perimeter of the ring. Devices are necessary for working with a tiled surface in order to avoid unwanted chips on it.
  7. Attachment mixer necessary for the preparation of special mixtures that are required during installation or distributors.
  8. A set of socket heads of different dimensions, these accessories can help with the installation of the electrical network in places with low levels of access.
  9. Headlamp to illuminate the work area.
  10. Set of tweezers different sizes to capture the smallest details.

Electrician clothes

Having all the necessary tools for a professional electrician is not enough, he must also have special clothing: work overalls, protective gloves and shoes.

If we consider this issue in more detail, then the following items of clothing should be present in the wardrobe of a specialist:

  1. Overalls and overalls are usually made of dense cotton material, since they must not only perform protective functions, but also be comfortable, not hinder movement during work.
  2. Hard polycarbonate helmet necessary when carrying out electrical work in particularly difficult and extreme conditions.
  3. Dielectric gloves there are several varieties, usually those that can withstand operating voltages up to 1000 V are used. For more complex and dangerous work, gloves that can withstand above 1000 V are used.
  4. Shoes for electricians made of genuine leather or rubber material, it does not contain any metal elements, as they are good conductors. For the processing of seams, only heat-resistant types of threads are used, and inserts made of polycarbonate are used as fasteners. If for some reason there is no special footwear, then the most ordinary rubber boots can replace it.

When carrying out electrical installation work in winter, it is recommended to wear thermal underwear or additional sets made of fiber and polyester under overalls. They not only save from the effects of cold, but also add comfort with their softness.
