Oleg kimovich vasiliev. Oleg Vasiliev: every step in my life is against the movement

Oleg Vasiliev was born on November 22, 1959 in the city of St. Petersburg. Parents - Lyudmila Konstantinovna and Kim Mikhailovich. When the boy was five years old, his mother decided that he needed to go in for sports, as he grew up sickly and weak. The choice fell on the figure skating section.

At first, Vasiliev performed in singles and achieved some success, for example, he won the championship and the USSR Cup among juniors. Subsequently, he moved to the Yubileiny Sports Palace, where the famous Tamara Moskvina became his coach. A competent specialist immediately noticed that Oleg would look much more advantageous in a pair, and put him in a duet with Elena Valova.

When Oleg Vasiliev began to perform in pair figure skating, he was already 18 years old, and his partner Elena was 15. But the young people very quickly found mutual understanding and reached great heights together. Three times they took gold at the World and European Championships, and in 1984 they became Olympic champions. There is nothing to say about silver and bronze awards, there were much more of them.

By the way, Vasiliev and Valova turned out to be the first sports couple to perform a triple parallel jump in the history of figure skating. In the 90s, Vasiliev left for America and went into professional sports, which is very developed in the United States. On account of his medals such tournaments as "US Open", "World Challenge of Champions", "Masters Miko", "Legends" and many others.

At the end of his career, the skater took up coaching. His first students were the Lithuanian couple Elena Sirokhvatova and Oleg Shlyakhov. Later, the silver medalists of the European Championship Tatyana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin came under his wing, who, under the leadership of Vasiliev, achieved their outstanding results: they won the 2006 Olympics, twice climbed the top step of the World Championship and five times turned out to be winners of the European Championship.

Oleg Kimovich also worked with single skaters, including the Russian Victoria Volchkova.

Recently, the most successful duo trained by O. Vasiliev were Maria Mukhortova and Maxim Trankov (champions of Russia in 2007 and multiple prize-winners of European championships). The Mukhortova-Trankov pair broke up immediately after the 2010 World Cup. After that, Oleg Vasiliev trains mainly children.

Oleg Vasiliev got into the popular reality show “Ice Age” in 2012, when he was invited to be one of the jury members in an unusual season - “Ice Age. Professional Cup ". Then there were no actors, musicians or boxers at the rink, but only professional athletes who had passed the figure skating school.

In season 5, Oleg Kimovich again occupied the judicial chair, but in 2016 he decided to re-enter the ice as a full-fledged participant. Oleg Vasiliev in the 6th season of "Ice Age" is paired with actress Daria Moroz.

Oleg Vasiliev. Biography

Oleg Vasiliev born November 22, 1959. Parents: Lyudmila Konstantinovna and Kim Mikhailovich. In November 1964, when Oleg was five years old, his mother brought him to the subscription figure skating group of the Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after S.M. Kirov. Oleg Vasiliev began to practice on the open ice, on the river bank. Exactly three years later, also in November, together with other young figure skaters of the Trud Sports Society, Oleg presented flowers to the participants of the parade and demonstration performances at the opening ceremony of the Yubileiny Sports Palace. In the same sports complex, Valova and Vasiliev subsequently trained under the guidance of Tamara Moskvina.

As a single skater Oleg Vasiliev achieved some success. He won the championship and the USSR Cup among juniors. But then he became interested in pair skating. When T. Moskvin, on the advice of I. Moskvin, invited him to try himself in this sport, he agreed. E. Valova became his partner.

So in 1978, the couple Elena Valova - Oleg Vasiliev was formed. They were 15 and 18 years old. Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina was their only coach throughout her amateur and professional career.

This couple has achieved tremendous success. Valova-Vasiliev: Olympic champions in 1984 in pair skating, silver medalists of the 1988 Olympic Games, three-time world champions (1983, 1985, 1988) and Europe (1984-1986), as well as multiple champions of the USSR.

Immediately after the end of his professional career, Oleg Vasiliev went into business. Then I decided to take up coaching work. One of Vasiliev's first students were the Lithuanian couple Elena Sirokhvatova and Oleg Shlyakhov. How a coach has brought up and continues to educate new champions.

From 1984 to 1992 Vasiliev was married to Elena Valova. In his second marriage, he has a daughter, Catherine. Currently divorced.

In December 1997 he moved to the USA, to Chicago, where he worked with Totmianina and Marinin. After 2006, Oleg Vasiliev returned to St. Petersburg, and after 2010 he again left for the United States.

Olympic champion and coach of Olympic champions, figure skater Oleg Vasiliev dreamed of going to Beijing to support the Russian team at the 2008 Games.

But representatives of winter sports have just begun active preparations for the new season. So Oleg Kimovich and his athletes followed the course of the Olympics as far as possible, in between training sessions.

And then they left at all - to Sweden, for a training camp. We returned home by the beginning of September, rested for a day, and again to the skating rink, now our own, at the St. Petersburg Academy of Figure Skating.

Looking there, I barely recognized Oleg Vasiliev. Usually mobile, confidently performing (still!) Many complex elements, he was wrapped in a warm jacket, moved slowly, spoke in a hoarse voice. It turned out he had a cold. But the training session (and the meeting with the "RG" correspondent), nevertheless, did not cancel.

Programs will become easier

Russian newspaper:Maybe it was worth postponing the lesson, Oleg Kimovich?

Oleg Vasiliev:We do not have enough time. Including because they returned from vacation and started training later than usual. For objective reasons: I had to attend the ISU Congress in Switzerland.

RG:And what was interesting at the congress?

Vasiliev:The most interesting thing is that in single skating, as well as in doubles, one element was excluded from free skating. For women - one of the rotations, for men - a sequence of steps.

RG:Is the International Figure Skating Federation on a course to simplify programs?

Vasiliev:The point is different. It took athletes much more time to complete the elements, which are more and more difficult every year. And the total rental time of programs provided by the rules remained the same. Nobody will allow to increase it. We decided that it is easier and easier to remove by element.

RG:How did your couples react to these changes, in particular, the French-Russian duet Valery Vorobyov - Jerome Blanchard?

Vasiliev:And there is no such duet anymore. Valeria no longer studies with us. As for Jerome, at the moment he decided to try himself in a different field - not entirely purely sports.

RG:Guys quarreled? But why? Such a promising duet was! ..

Vasiliev:Nothing extraordinary happened in the relationship between them. It just suddenly turned out that Valeria's personal interests do not coincide with the interests of the couple ...

Mukhortova - Trankov are heroes

RG:It turns out that you now have only one pair Maria Mukhortova - Maxim Trankov?

Vasiliev:And I have enough work with them. In the coming season, the guys will fight for the podium of the World Championship, and this is a rather serious task. I have neither the strength nor the time to search for promising young figure skaters. This was undertaken by our Academy of Figure Skating in cooperation with the city federation of this sport.

RG:You worked for a long time - in France, then in the USA. Maybe there are talented girls, bring them from there?

Vasiliev:I see no need. I do not believe that our country has become impoverished in sports talents.

RG:Do you believe in a pair of Mukhortov and Trankov so much that you are ready to give her all your time?

Vasiliev:If I didn't believe, I wouldn't work with them. They performed very well last season. We won the European Championship. And at the world championship they took seventh place, despite the fact that Maxim performed with a serious injury. I believe that in that situation it was close to heroism. Max's hand practically did not work - due to joint problems in the cervical spine. Now, thank God, everything is fine, he has recovered.

RG:Recently again there was talk that Maria and Maxim are in conflict with each other, as it happened in previous years. They say you got it too ...

Vasiliev:I don't know who starts these conversations. Probably those who benefit from it. I can assure you that the situation in our creative group is absolutely normal.

RG:In previous years, this couple, unfortunately, gave an excuse ...

Vasiliev:They just worked ineptly with them. In my opinion, these are quite adequate young people. Hardworking and ambitious.

RG:What is their advantage over other skaters?

Vasiliev:In the technical complexity of the elements they perform. But above all in individuality. They have their own face. They are recognizable. We have to work hard to make them more stable. This is a long-term job. I participate in it, and the athletes themselves, and our psychologist.

In worries about a comfortable future

RG:Last year at the Russian championship, where they became the second, Masha and Maxim complained about the music of their free program, they say, it is very annoying, so they did not win. How can you go out on the ice, hating the melody to which you have to perform?

Vasiliev:We had to leave the old program "for technical reasons". Due to the fact that both our couple and another Russian duet chose the same music for the new composition. But our rivals announced the topic to the federation a little earlier. And we just didn't have enough time to redo something. This year the situation is different. We are preparing two new compositions - short and free. I won't tell you what kind of music. Let it remain our little secret for the time being.

RG:Will it be Olympic programs for the 2010 Winter Games?

Vasiliev:No, only for one season. This year we are solving a specific task - to climb the podium at the World Championship. Let's execute it - let's go further.

RG:A year ago you told me that your other students, Olympic champions Tatyana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin, are going to return to amateur sports to compete at the Vancouver Olympics. They never returned, however.

Vasiliev:The guys really gave up on this idea. We decided to continue working as professionals while they are in demand there. Tanya and Maxim brilliantly defended the honor of Russia at the Games in Turin, and now they have the opportunity to earn with their skills. The sports life is too short, we must have time to take care of a comfortable future. When they come to St. Petersburg, they train with me. At the same time, they do not intersect with other pairs.

RG:Are you preparing with your athletes for the season in St. Petersburg and Sweden?

Vasiliev:We trained with Mukhortova and Trankov in Chicago for three weeks in July. We studied there in conditions close to ideal.
