Insulation of a concrete well for the winter: a complete work plan. How to insulate a well from concrete rings for the winter: technology, methods, materials and reviews Warming a water well for the winter

Why and who needs to know how to insulate a water supply well? Owners of private houses definitely need the water not to freeze. At low temperatures, the water is covered with a crust of ice, and the walls are covered with frost. From the inside, the thickness of the ice cover can reach 30 cm. The frozen water expands, causing damage to the structure. When severe frostbite occurs, the concrete rings move, and this can lead to poor water quality and collapse.

If the water level is at a depth of 1-2 meters, then the well will not last long. It is also important to consider the place of residence: in the temperate or northern zone, the soil freezes up to 1.5 meters. Residents of these regions, who own reinforced concrete wells, definitely need to take care of their insulation for the winter.

Even if you come to the dacha only in the warm season, you still need to protect your water source from the cold. Otherwise, problems may appear:

  • a heavy melting plug at the edge, falling inward, can damage the pumping station;
  • the rings will part and form seams into which the rotten water will get;
  • ice will damage the entire plumbing system: electric cable, meter, boiler, water hose.

Non-insulated water structures need regular maintenance - annual restoration work will cost more than do-it-yourself thermal insulation once.

Types and materials for insulation

Previously, wells were built from wooden beams, so the water in them did not freeze. If you have such a well at your dacha, only the hatch will need thermal insulation - make a wooden cover for it, and in winter there will be no problems.

In the past decades, they have been built from different materials. Reinforced concrete or brick was replaced by polymer sandy material. This composite is durable, simple, and is also used in the construction of underground water supply or technical sewers.

The most common type is reinforced concrete. Concrete rings are reliable, durable, strong and easy to install. There is one drawback - the rings freeze along with the soil, so they need insulation. To do this, you can use different types of thermal insulation: insulation of the hatch, the upper ring, or the construction of a house above it from the outside above the well.

How to properly protect your water source? It is advisable to insulate it during the construction phase. It will cost less and the scale of excavation will be less.

How to insulate a well of concrete rings that has already been built? To do this, you need to dig a trench around the concrete rings up to 2.5-3 meters deep. It is better to lay the insulation a meter below the level from freezing of the soil, and to save money, it is still worth insulating the water supply.

How to insulate? There are several types of insulation. Let's briefly talk about their pros and cons.

Styrofoam

Benefits:low price, easy installation, resistance to deformation, good thermal insulation.

Disadvantages: it is influenced by rodents and insects, and in hot weather it releases toxic substances.

Well insulation with expanded polystyrene

Benefits: resistance to temperature extremes is higher than that of polystyrene, the price is only 20% higher, durability up to 25 years.

Disadvantages: when insulating the upper ring, it is necessary to additionally secure it from the outside with metal brackets to avoid shifting the structure.

Polymer materials

Benefits: glued or self-adhesive, environmentally friendly.

Disadvantage: high price.

Polyurethane foam

Benefits: high thermal insulation, moisture resistance, stability, durability up to 50 years.

Disadvantages: high price, the need to use a spray.

Warming with expanded polystyrene

The most profitable option is insulation with expanded polystyrene. Penoplex made in Russia is identical to imported ones in quality and properties, but has a lower price. Available in the form of tiles. A minimum diameter of 30 cm is required to evenly place the ring shells. Waterproof clay can be used for insulation.

Thermal insulation of a well with expanded polystyrene is similar to insulation with foam:

  1. Prepare the walls - clean them from dirt, degrease.
  2. Install the shell for concrete rings with construction adhesive.
  3. If necessary, fix the penoplex with dowel-nails.
  4. Make waterproofing.
  5. Cover the joints between the plates with polyurethane foam.

Additionally, you can wrap the rings with a water-repellent material. On the outside, fix the penoplex with special metal staples.

How to insulate a pipe in a well if it is not possible to place it below the freezing level of the earth? The best option is the same penoplex. The width of the sheets should be sufficient for the entire length of the plumbing, closing it on the sides. But is an insulated pipe needed if it is deeply laid? The deeper the pipe is, the less insulation is required. The outside thickness of the insulation for the pipe at a depth of 1 meter is 50 mm. If the pipeline reaches the surface, then more than 100 mm will be needed.

Internal insulation is also important. The best protection against freezing is a hand-made wooden or three-layer lid. The well cover is insulated as follows: a penoplex is placed between two plywoods and fixed there. The wood is then treated with a waterproof compound to prevent swelling. Holes are drilled inside: one for ventilation (a plastic pipe is inserted into it), two for fastening with wire. The finished structure is lowered inward to ground level.

How to build a house over a well

A house built over a mine is a costly but effective way to protect a water source. For construction, you will need logs, cement, expanded clay, mineral wool, tiles. In order to build a house, you need:

  1. Construct blind areas of cement. Can be covered with tiles or expanded clay.
  2. On the blind areas, make a blockhouse of logs.
  3. Insulate the cracks between the house and the ring with cotton wool.
  4. Install the gable roof.
  5. Treat with moisture resistant impregnation, then close the hatch.

It is necessary to insulate wells. The cost of the work will pay off in the near future, because you will not need to spend money on repairs and ordering water while the restoration is in progress. The assortment of heaters is wide, so that among them it is easy to find the one that suits you in terms of composition, installation method and price.

Most of the indigenous people of rural areas and summer residents use wells to supply water to their homes and household plots. In some settlements, structures made of wooden log cabins are still preserved. In modern conditions, wells are built using new technologies - they involve the sequential installation of several rings of concrete into the well. A personal water production facility requires significant financial costs at the stage of its arrangement and then maintenance. Warming a well made of concrete rings for the winter is a prerequisite for preserving it from destruction.

The need to insulate a well from concrete slabs

Insulation of a well from concrete rings.

The well is classified as a hydraulic engineering facility. After determining the location of groundwater in the ground, a deep well must be dug to install the structure. To prevent its walls from collapsing, they install concrete blocks, the joints of which are carefully sealed. The resulting mine is filled with water. It is lifted outward using traditional levers, chains, buckets, or pumping systems. The last of these methods is the most common; when choosing it, a local water supply is carried out into the house.

With a decrease in air temperature, the properties of water change. A crust of ice begins to appear on its surface, and then complete freezing of the liquid can occur. If winter is characterized by severe frosts, a nuisance often occurs with concrete rings in the well shaft - cracks, deformations, shifts and destruction can appear on their surface. Such negative changes are predictable, because during freezing, the volume of liquid becomes larger, the ice strongly presses on the walls of the well body. In addition to the fact that it is often completely impossible to collect water in winter, the owner of the structure will have to make extremely expensive and time-consuming repairs by spring. Therefore, winterizing a well is an important procedure. You should find out in what ways it can be done.

Thermally insulated cover device

Insulated cover for the well.

To prevent water from freezing in the home hydraulic system, you can install a special insulated cover. It should be designed in such a way that it covers the entrance to the well at the level of the soil surface.

To insulate the well with your own hands, you will need to purchase medium-thick plywood (2 sheets), a protective coating for it, insulation material (foam, polystyrene), glue and polyurethane foam. To assemble the structure, you need a wire, a small piece of pipe.

First, you should mark and cut two circles out of plywood. The inner diameter of the concrete ring must match their size. It is necessary to provide for and make two small cuts in the circles, in which a ventilation pipe will be installed and a hose of the pumping system will be threaded. For better assembly of the structure and ensuring its stability, several holes need to be drilled along the edge of the circles, into which the wire will then be threaded. It is recommended to cover the product with a primer to keep it dry. Then the insulation is cut out - you need to cut out a circle, the diameter of which will correspond to the plywood.

The next step is to assemble the well cover. A circle of insulation is glued between the plywood with glue (craftsmen recommend choosing a joiner). During installation, it is required to control the coincidence of the holes made, the insulation between them is selected, then a tube for ventilation is installed.

It is advisable to strengthen the joints of the structure with polyurethane foam. The next step is to work with the wire. It is threaded into the holes located along the diameter of the cover, holds it together, forms "ears", a handle with which you can conveniently insert the product into the well shaft. With the help of such a device, it is convenient to adjust the installation depth of the product, fix it in the right place.

Installing a house over a well

House construction.

Insulation of a well with expanded polystyrene is used in the case of a log house made of wood above it - a traditional house. This design will save the hydraulic structure from freezing and destruction, if the area is mild, winters pass without severe frosts.

Of the materials required: logs for a log house, thick plywood, expanded polystyrene, waterproofing film. You will need nails, wire, wood primer, polyurethane foam.

First, the concrete ring itself, which is located above the ground, is insulated. For this, a heater is cut out. From it you need to cut out several squares and glue them along the diameter of the ring. It is convenient to use six parts - after installation, they form a hexagon, the edges of which fit as tightly as possible to the concrete. Polyurethane foam is poured between them. Then the structure is covered with a film, reinforced with wire - it is wrapped around it.

The frame itself is made. The structure should be slightly larger and taller than the concrete rings. It is recommended to treat the logs with a special protective primer. The special construction of its sandwich roof provides additional thermal insulation. It consists of two layers of plywood, between which insulation is placed. The door for the building is made similarly.

A well with a house can be a decoration of the site. It can be decorated at your own discretion, in accordance with the existing landscape solutions.

Making a fur coat for the top ring

Well insulation for the winter.

Penoplex insulation of wells is often used by their owners. Such material is produced in the form of plates, their basis is expanded polystyrene. It possesses qualities important for insulation - low thermal conductivity, durability, environmental friendliness. The manufacturer offers several standard sizes of plates of various thicknesses, they are selected according to the requirements of the project and the purpose of the structure. In addition to penoplex, paint, polyurethane foam, plaster will be required to insulate the well. Work is carried out with the outer ring and part of the structure in the ground.

Before the process of warming, preparation is required. A pit should be dug around the walls of the well. Its depth should be at least half a meter, and its width should ensure convenient work performance - at least 25 centimeters from the ring. Concrete surfaces are thoroughly cleaned of adhered earth, treated with a special primer.

After the ring is dry, a layer of insulating material is glued to it. Work begins to be performed from the surface of the earth to the top. It is required to ensure that the joints between its sheets are small, a snug fit to the concrete surface is ensured. Polyurethane foam is poured into the gaps. After the glue and sealant have dried (the time for their complete hardening is indicated in the instructions for the use of materials), you can start applying plaster to the rings. Such work is necessary to preserve the penoplex from exposure to sunlight. Then paint is applied to the surface, it gives the well an aesthetic appearance. It is necessary to dig a trench, start manufacturing the installation of the cover for the well (the technology was described above).

There is another way to make a protective coat. Instead of plaster, you can use a waterproofing foam. After that, around the well, you need to build a box of boards and cover the structure with an insulated cover.

Most people with summer cottages and gardens need water only during the warm season. But some summer residents spend there all year round, and therefore they also need water in the country in winter. For this, a pipe with water is insulated from a well or well to a house.

To build a winter water supply system in the country from a well, you need to choose the right pipes, insulation materials and choose the appropriate technology for the area where it will be located.

The best choice for a winter water supply system in the country, which is made by hand, are polypropylene pipes, which retain good elasticity even at fairly low temperatures.

They are very durable (almost 50 years), do not corrode, are lightweight and have good resistance to damage.

The great advantage of these pipes is that they are made of environmentally friendly material that does not harm nature and humans. And they are also inexpensive, which is also an important factor when choosing and buying.

There are also pipes made of metal and polyethylene on sale, but in many of their technical characteristics, as well as cost, they are inferior to products made of propylene. You can find out more about pipes for a country water supply.

Insulation materials

For self-made water pipe insulation in the country, several options for special materials are used. The first variety, called "pipe shells", is a pipe shell.

The second type is a variety of insulation materials, made in rolls of various widths and lengths.

“Pipe shells” are made of polystyrene foam, extruded polystyrene foam and polyurethane foam. It is a product in the form of a semi-rigid cylinder, which consists of two halves. It is put on the pipe and fastened with overlaps, special glue, clamps and foil tape.

Usually the length of such a "shell" is one meter, but it can be up to two meters. Such products can be produced with additional coatings of foil, fiberglass or galvanized. This type of insulation material is quickly and easily mounted, and also removed and replaced during repairs. The shell, covered with fiberglass, can be used for all types of water pipes or pipelines that are placed in the ground, outdoors and indoors.

Water has always been and is one of the essential elements of life. And even the very first settlements were trying to create on ...

Foam plastic is called foamed plastic in the form of small white balls (known to absolutely everyone), which are pressed into the shape of a pipe during the manufacture of the "shell", and then processed with steam. Interestingly, this material is almost 97-98 percent air. The advantages of foam are lightness, practicality and low cost. And the disadvantages include fragility and fragility.

Styrofoam

Extruded polystyrene foam is a type of polystyrene foam that uses pressure and high temperature in its production. The result is a more durable material than foam. I like this material for its resistance to environmental influences (does not rot). It does not absorb moisture, has a long service life, light weight and is easy to install.

Polyurethane foam is a plastic foam material made up of numerous gas-filled cells. It attracts attention with the best noise insulation characteristics, good mechanical strength, ease of use and low weight.

Polyurethane foam

Of the insulating materials that are produced in the form of rolls, it is worth mentioning stone wool, foamed polyethylene and glass wool.

Glass wool is an insulation material made of glass fibers. It attracts attention with its noise and heat insulation characteristics, durability and price. The disadvantages include the fact that when working with glass wool, it is imperative to observe safety precautions, since this material is prickly. During isolation work, the respiratory organs and skin are protected by protective equipment (special work suits, gloves and masks).

Glass wool

Stone or basalt wool

Fibers of stone or basalt wool are produced from molten rocks of volcanic origin, slag and silicate materials. This insulating material attracts attention with its high resistance to various loads and influences, non-combustibility, as well as the fact that products of various shapes and densities are made from it.

Foamed polyethylene is produced by processing conventional high pressure polyethylene using propane and butane. It is an elastic porous material with a large number of cells. Foamed polyethylene stands out among other insulating materials for its highest resistance to water, and fungi and bacteria do not act on it. It tolerates well exposure to petroleum products, alkalis and acids.

Technology

There are two ways to insulate the water supply system in the country from freezing. One option is to place the pipes underground to a depth where the soil does not freeze during the winter. To do this, you must definitely find out to what depth the ground in your region has been freezing over the past ten years. With this method, a trench is usually dug to a slightly greater depth, and expanded clay or slag waste is poured onto the bottom. After laying the pipe, slag or expanded clay is also poured on top, and only then covered with sand and soil.

The second method consists in placing a winter water supply system at a depth of 50 to 70 cm, but at the same time good insulating materials must be used. In this case, a trench is dug, its bottom is leveled, a layer of sand from 10 to 15 cm is poured. Before laying, a so-called "shell" of insulation is put on the pipes. Depending on the climate, you can additionally use different insulating materials, which are available in rolls. After the pipes are laid in trenches, they are covered with soil.

True, it is worth noting another way of how to insulate the water supply system in the country and protect it from freezing and icing in winter. This is the use of a heating cable, which is a self-regulating wire connected to the mains.

Self-regulating heating cable

It is called self-regulating because it can change its resistance depending on the ambient temperature and, accordingly, heat up or cool down. It is usually placed on the water supply in a straight line or wrapped around pipes. When wrapping a pipe, the distance between the spirals can vary from 5 to 30 cm.

For fastening, use an aluminum adhesive tape. In order for the heat from the heating cable to be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the plastic pipe, it is pre-wrapped with foil.

It is better to use a self-regulating cable together with rolled protective materials, since this reduces the risks of freezing of the winter water supply system and reduces the cost of electricity used to heat the water supply pipe.

Protection of wells and wells in winter

In winter, water enters the water supply system at the dacha from a well, a well, or the main water supply system, if one is available. Most often, an ordinary well of not very deep depth serves as a source of water in summer cottages, and in the private sector. The advantage of such a source is that a high-power pump is not required to supply water.

In addition to the pump for such a water supply system, it is advisable to use a hydraulic accumulator, which is a large-capacity barrel. It accumulates a certain supply of water, which can be used at any time. This is especially true during a power outage.

In addition, the accumulator helps to protect the water supply from water hammer and pressure surges. It and the pump are best installed in a warm utility room, where they are easy to maintain.

In addition to pipes, water sources need protection from frost: wells and wells. In order not to freeze the water in the well, a caisson well or a pit with a depth of one and a half to two meters is arranged, where a person can safely go down the stairs to carry out maintenance of the pump or the well itself.

Caisson well or pit

The pit walls can be made of bricks, plastic, cast from concrete and stacked of concrete rings. They must be sheathed with foam plates, the thickness of which reaches more than 10 cm, or laid out with mineral wool. The top of the well must be closed with a powerful lid, well insulated with glass wool or other material. They also carry out waterproofing so that water does not get into the caisson well.

Water in wells finished with wooden beams rarely freezes in winter. To protect such wells for the winter, a dense protective wooden cover is installed.

But concrete wells require quite powerful insulation, especially if the water is above the freezing level of the soil. To do this, the well ring is dug up to the freezing level, and then insulated with polystyrene, pressed in the form of half rings.

Before starting work, the joints in the concrete are treated with a special sealant, then the foam is installed. To protect the insulation from sunlight, it is covered with plaster or paint.

Country chores will certainly require the constant availability of water. This is watering the garden, and a shower after work. And if the house ...

Well abandonment and abandonment

But if the well for some reason will not be operated in winter, then temporary conservation of the well for water is carried out. Such work helps to protect the water source from freezing and various debris. To temporarily close the well, a pit or a caisson is constructed, which must be closed with a tight hatch with a lock.

Over time, water sources become inoperative, and then liquidation of water wells is carried out. But it is worth knowing that artesian water is state property, and therefore supervision over the correct use of such wells is with special bodies. Therefore, well shut-in operations are carried out according to certain rules that must be followed.

Artesian wells are liquidated only by special organizations under the supervision of the sanitary-epidemiological station and according to instructions.

Such work consists of several stages. First, the borehole is drilled to its entire depth, then the borehole walls are cleaned from various contaminants and rust. At the next stage, the inner volume of the well is treated with powerful disinfectants (such as bleach), after which water is pumped out of the well.

Then the filter material is poured into the barrel of the water source. This can be crushed stone, clay, gravel or sand. A small layer of concrete is poured over it, the so-called bridge. At the very beginning of the well, a concrete plug is also created, on which a plate is left with data on the day of closure and the organization that carried out the work.

Well conservation

Everyone knows that it is necessary to insulate the well for the winter, but not everyone understands how to do this. Our article will be devoted to this topic.

Warming methods

Well insulation for the winter can be done in several versions. They differ in the way, the material used and the degree of complexity of the work performed.

We will present the most common and effective methods. With the help of our video, you can do everything yourself, but first we will figure out the methods and materials with which we will insulate the well for the winter.

Thermal insulation with a wooden frame

The fact is that the tree itself is already a pretty good insulation and is perfect for our purpose. The cost of the material is varied, here you look at your financial capabilities.

But one thing is clear that this is not only a great way to insulate, but also a great opportunity to decorate an ordinary well. Moreover, you can do the work completely with your own hands, without resorting to outside help.

Let's look at the main stages of getting the job done:

  • To prevent the water from freezing (see, it is necessary to start with the preparation of the installation base. It is necessary to make a covering. For this, a sufficiently rigid foundation is prepared, which must withstand the structure;
  • We determine the place and dimensions. After that, we make the markup and lower it in relation to the ground level by the thickness of the foundation. We just take a shovel and dig;
  • Now we fall asleep with gravel. By the way, all the stones from the site are suitable. Broken brick can also be used;
  • After that, we make a cement mortar and spill crushed stone. The solution must be liquid. There should be no air between the stones.

Attention: Choose the correct foundation thickness. When loaded, it should not lead.
For strengthening, you can put any unnecessary reinforcement there. It will be great if you weld it together. This will greatly strengthen the foundation.

  • Now, around the well itself, we make a blockhouse of wood. In this case, a gap should be left between the wall and the well. After installation, we fill the gap with insulation. Here you can use expanded clay or mineral wool;
  • Now we put a log house in this place and close the entire structure. Don't forget to make a good stingray - it will come in handy in winter.

We make a suspended ceiling for a well

We insulate the well for the winter in the simplest but most effective way. We make a simply insulated lid, which in some cases prevents the formation of an ice plug in the well.

The fact is that the water in the well in winter has a temperature of about 7 degrees. And this simple way helps to store this heat.

Such a cover is installed at a depth that exceeds the level of soil freezing. The principle of this work is as follows. We carry out insulation with a simple cover

So:

  • To begin with, we measure the diameter of the well. After that, we take moisture resistant plywood and cut out two rings, according to the taken measurement;
  • We wrap one ring with a film, this will prevent the accumulation of water. And after that we lower it below ground level. We fasten it with suspensions;
  • The upper part of the shield must be insulated and for this we use foam or polyurethane;

Attention: You can make insulation with other materials. Just keep in mind that
the material should not crumble. For example, a lot of dust is poured from the mineral wool. Therefore, it is not recommended to use it.

  • The second cover is installed above the insulation by a meter, but this, in principle, is determined by everyone. Opinions vary on this issue. But I think that if the second cap is above ground level, then there will be no effect. Or it is necessary to carry out additional insulation of the well.

How to insulate a brick well

An existing brick well can be insulated using the same methods that are used for concrete wall rings. It is quite another matter if construction is just beginning.

Then waterproofing and insulation of brickwork is carried out during the production of work:

  • The shaft of the well does not have to be round, it can be square or rectangular. In this case, well masonry with insulation is the most suitable option. This is a very popular way of building walls in the construction of houses: the brick is laid so that empty wells are formed in their thickness, which are covered with sawdust, expanded clay, polystyrene crumbs, or filled with penoizol.

  • In another version, two parallel walls are erected, rigidly connected by anchors, the space between which is also filled. Well masonry with insulation is very convenient for arranging a reservoir in a finished pit. It can be a drinking water intake with a depth of up to six meters, and any other type of well: differential, rotary, observation.
  • Of course, a well does not require such a wall thickness as a building - one and a half bricks are enough. After the completion of the masonry work, it remains only to plaster the wall from the outside and make a drainage sleeve. If a plasticizer is added to the mortar for masonry and plaster, the strength and waterproofing of the walls being built will be maximized.

For a drinking well, it is advisable to make a house, or a shed - so that it does not fall asleep with snow in winter. As for the lid: it is better if it is wooden multilayer.

Almost all drinking wells that are used for water extraction, along with autonomous water supply wells, experience significant operational difficulties in the winter.

The fact is that in the process of exposure to low temperatures, the water supply wire or the layer of water reserves located above freezes. Based on this, do-it-yourself insulation of the well is a priority task just like (or rather, the implementation of such insulation).

1 Why is insulation necessary?

The well belongs to the class of those hydraulic structures that are objects with a constantly high water level.

Thermal insulation of a well, or rather well masonry for the winter with the use of expanded polystyrene, is the only correct technical solution, with the help of which reliable thermal insulation will be created.

A plug of ice is formed in the process of freezing the walls of the well, regardless of their thickness. This seriously interferes with the intake of well water. The thickness of the ice plug can reach 30 centimeters, while the surface of the walls is covered with frost.

Since water tends to expand when freezing, and the shaft of the well masonry is essentially one large pipe, regardless of the thickness of the walls, without the use of insulation, the expanding ice plug damages the formwork.

This will significantly underestimate such a parameter of a structure as durability, even if done. Subsequently, a plug can form within the well masonry, which will affect the condition of the concrete rings.

In this case, with a high degree of probability, displacement of concrete rings can occur both in relation to each other and vertically.

Therefore, the task of choosing and installing insulation for the winter around the well masonry is one of the most important. Another consequence associated with the lack of insulation is the same ice plug melting along the edges of the well masonry.

After the edges melt, the cork slides down the inner surface of the walls. As a result of the fall of a rather weighty ice plug on the water surface, a hydrodynamic shock occurs, which negatively affects the state of the masonry and the inner surface of the walls.

In the event that the parameter of the depth of the well is less than such a value as the depth of freezing of the soil, the freezing of water in the well will pass through the surface of the walls even if done.

As a rule, this happens on an area characterized by a high degree of swampiness or near water bodies, where aquifers are located at a depth of 1-2 meters.

If the formwork of the well is insulated with foam, then freezing is unlikely to occur. Reviews about this insulation are mostly positive.

1.1 How to insulate a well with expanded polystyrene half rings?

It should be borne in mind that not all popular materials that provide thermal insulation are suitable for well insulation.

So, for example, a heater presented in the form of a material such as mineral wool or rolled fiberglass will not show adequate efficiency under the current conditions.

In the process of getting wet, such insulation will lose all its basic qualities and properties, which can subsequently provoke further freezing of the masonry.

In this case, experts strongly recommend using polystyrene half rings. These products have a special locking system, thanks to which the structure will be reliably protected from the adverse effects of negative temperatures.

The presented material, along with the minimum indicators of heat transfer and moisture absorption, is distinguished by such qualities as:

  • Resistant to deformation;
  • High moisture resistance like basalt (and, by the way, not dangerous);
  • High heat-saving characteristics;
  • Long operational life.

However, it should be noted that the presented insulation is often attacked by rodents. This is perhaps his only drawback.

The very process of warming with polystyrene foam half rings occurs with great ease, and you can do all the work yourself.

Thanks to the locking system, the edges get a seam with a high degree of reliability. The insulation itself is attached to the inner surface of the well using a conventional adhesive or a mixture used for laying ceramic tiles.

It is worth paying attention to those formulations that are intended for use in open spaces. The glue must exhibit frost and water resistance properties.

Additional fixation of the half-ring c can be carried out using conventional dowels. Izolon, the thickness of which is slightly less than expanded polystyrene, is also used quite often.

Despite its low thickness, the material provides reliable thermal insulation. The installation process is quite simple due to the presence of a self-adhesive layer.

In order to glue the coating, you just need to remove the special protective film and align the Izolon strip along the entire inner surface of the walls of the well.

1.2 Insulation with polyurethane foam

In some cases, polyurethane foam works well when insulating a well. On its surface, as on Penoplex, the smallest irregularities are formed, due to the presence of which the adhesion ability is significantly increased.

In addition, polyurethane foam provides a high level of waterproofing of the well. Two-component polyurethane due to its characteristics can be easily applied to any surface.

When carrying out installation, there is no need to use additional elements for fastening.

The foam layer adheres very tightly to the inner surface of the concrete rings of the well. Polyurethane foam is different:

  • Low coefficient of thermal conductivity;
  • Environmental safety;
  • Integrity and lack of joints;
  • An operational period of more than 30 years as in.

However, it should be noted that the presented insulation material is quickly destroyed by direct sunlight.

In view of this, the insulation layer must be covered with finishing elements. The insulation process itself is carried out with the participation of sandwich panels, which are presented in the form of a multilayer material.

Its main part consists of an insulating layer, which is located in the space between the two outer surfaces.

The insulation itself is divided into several stages. First, the soil is undermined along the entire perimeter of the well to the depth of freezing of the earth.

After that, it is necessary to warm up the polyurethane foam components, which are placed in separate containers.

After warming up, they enter the spray chamber under pressure, where they mix. Next, the resulting substance is coated on the inner surface of the walls of the well.

Due to the fact that polyurethane foam quickly foams and expands its volume, it effectively fills the smallest cracks and gaps in concrete.

The thickness of the coating after hardening is 2-3 centimeters. This insulation quickly degrades when exposed to direct ultraviolet rays. To avoid this, the surface layer is covered with foil or oil-based paint.
