What to eat with stomach ulcer. Nutrition for stomach ulcers during an exacerbation

A diet for stomach ulcers is a prerequisite for full therapy and prevention of recurrence of the disease.

General principles of diet for stomach ulcers

Knowing and adhering to the general principles of the diet used for stomach ulcers, it will be possible to draw up your own menu as correctly as possible and not aggravate the course of the disease.

Among them are:

    Balance. You cannot deprive the patient in terms of the calorie content of dishes. The daily menu should be balanced, and the energy value should be at least 3000 kcal.

    Fractionality. Breaks between meals should not be more than three hours.

    Minimum Serving Size. Ideally, each meal should fit in a handful of folded hands.

    A ban on fried and baked products until golden brown.

    Prohibiting very hot or very cold foods. Dishes that have a temperature above or below 30 ° C inhibit the enzyme function and slow down the process of restoration of the epithelial tissue of the stomach. This rule is especially true at the time of exacerbation of a stomach ulcer.

    Refusal from products that increase gassing.

    Complete rejection or minimization of the amount of salt consumed.

    Increasing the volume of water up to 2 liters, in the absence of thyroid diseases and pathologies of the urinary system.

    Exclusion of carbonated drinks and alcohol.

    Refusal from any products that enhance the production of gastric juice.

    Heat treatment of dishes is allowed: stewing, cooking, steaming, blanching.

    The priority is sparing food that does not irritate the stomach wall.

    The principle of sparing. Mechanical sparing of the stomach consists in the selection of certain foods eaten at one time. Chemical sparing consists in the exclusion of products that irritate the digestive secretions.

    The principle of a zigzag power supply. He assumes that for short periods of time, the patient is allowed products from the prohibited list (within the reasonable limits), and then he is returned to the diet menu. This principle is intended to serve as a kind of training for the digestive tract and is used only at the recovery stage.

    The principle of individuality. That is, when drawing up a menu, one cannot be guided by the same principles for all. Much depends on the stage of the disease, where the ulcer is located, what is the patient's age, what is his body weight, whether there are concomitant diseases, etc.

    Tracking the time of food digestion. So 200 ml of water, tea or broth will stay in the stomach for an average of 1.5 hours. After three hours, meat, boiled vegetables, apples and bread will leave him. The longest time there is fatty fish, fried meat, legumes - up to 5 hours.

As for the timing, the diet must be adhered to for at least one year after an attack of an exacerbation of the disease. The main goal of dietary nutrition in this case is to accelerate the regeneration of the mucous membrane lining the stomach and normalize the digestion process.

Can I eat, drink ...?

It would seem that the list of permitted and prohibited foods for use with stomach ulcers is quite clear. However, after visiting a doctor, most patients have a number of questions regarding a particular unspecified product.

Therefore, it is worth answering in more detail the most popular questions that arise among people suffering from ulcers:

    Can you drink kefir, fermented baked milk, yogurt?It is worthwhile to separately deal with each of these fermented milk products. So kefir is banned during the period of exacerbation of the disease, as well as 5 days later, after the attack passes. After this time, you can consume kefir, but it is important that it is fresh and non-acidic. The main thing is to slightly warm it up before use. You can add a spoonful of vegetable oil to the drink, which will allow an existing ulcer to heal faster. Yogurt is one of the priority food products for the treatment of ulcers, since the bifidobacteria contained in it have a detrimental effect on Helicobacter pylori. If possible, you should prepare this product yourself, at home. As for fermented baked milk, it is also allowed for this stomach pathology. However, it is worth buying this fermented milk product with a minimal fat content.

    Can you eat cucumbers and tomatoes?When the disease is in an acute stage, vegetables such as cucumbers are prohibited from consumption. After the stage of remission has begun, you can gradually include them in the diet, but in small quantities and without the skin. This vegetable is added to salads in various forms, but it is best to grind it on a grater. Tomatoes, as well as cucumbers, are prohibited at the time of exacerbation of the disease. This is due to the fact that they help to reduce the rate of ulcer healing and slightly increase the acidity of gastric juice. When the exacerbation of the disease is eliminated, you can use the fruits of tomatoes in the daily menu, but after pouring boiling water over them and removing the skin.

    Can i eat a banana?Bananas are allowed for consumption by patients with gastric ulcer. Once in its cavity, they envelop the organ, thereby reducing the acidity of gastric juice. This contributes to the elimination of pain syndrome, the early healing of the existing ulcer. In addition, bananas have increased nutritional value.

    Is it possible cheese, cottage cheese?Cottage cheese is a product that must be on the table of a patient with a stomach ulcer. It does not include anything that could provoke an attack of the disease or aggravate the patient's condition. In fact, curd is a curdled milk protein, without whey, which is endowed with vitamins B, PP, A, and iron. Therefore, it has an undeniable value for sick people. Moreover, cottage cheese can be purchased both in the store and cooked at home. You can use the product for the preparation of many dishes: casseroles, soufflés, mousses, creams, etc. It is worth choosing cottage cheese that has a low percentage of fat. Cheese is also a valuable ingredient in the diet of people with ulcers. It contains a lot of easily digestible protein and amino acids, as well as calcium. The main thing is to give preference to cheeses that have a low fat content and a low salt content.

    Can I have eggs? Eggs are among those products that have high nutritional properties and provide an excellent opportunity to compensate for the lack of vitamin A, B6, B2, E, phosphorus, calcium, cobalt, glands and other trace elements in dietary nutrition. The protein that makes up the egg is perfectly absorbed by the human body, but it is important to prepare it correctly. It is not necessary to cook or fry eggs for a long time; patients with an ulcer are shown to use this product cooked soft-boiled or in the form of an omelet. A raw egg will be useful, but in this case, the risk of contracting salmonellosis increases.

    Can I have a watermelon? Patients with stomach ulcers are prohibited from eating watermelon. This is due to the fact that it causes an increased secretion of gastric juice, increases its acidity, which will contribute to the exacerbation of the disease. During the period of remission, you can include a small amount of fresh watermelon in your menu, but you should not do it on an empty stomach.

    Can I have seeds?Seeds are prohibited for stomach ulcers, as they irritate its mucous membrane, can additionally injure it and aggravate the pathological process. In addition, they contain hard-to-digest fats that negatively affect the course of the disease. After the seeds enter the stomach of a person with an ulcer, he will begin to experience pain, as the level of acidity will increase, flatulence and complications from the gallbladder are often observed. You should not consume seeds even during remission, as this can exacerbate the ulcerative process.

    Is garlic ok? For the period of exacerbation of the disease, such a product as garlic is under the strictest ban. When the patient's condition reaches a stable remission, it is allowed to eat. However, patients with a history of ulcers should first steam the garlic, or add dishes to the puree: mashed potatoes, boiled cereals, etc. You can add quite a small amount of it when stewing or cooking the dish, to give them some pungency and smell ...

    Can I have coffee? During an exacerbation of the disease, any coffee drink is prohibited. Neither natural nor instant coffee should be consumed. When the disease is in remission, you can sometimes add a small cup of natural coffee to your menu, provided that it is weakly brewed. However, remember that the reason for refusing this tonic drink in the presence of peptic ulcer disease is that it affects the production of hydrochloric acid, increasing its production. This, in turn, affects the development of the disease, provoking its exacerbation.

    Can i drink soda?With heartburn and, many people, in order to stop unpleasant symptoms, use soda. This substance is really capable of having a neutralizing effect on hydrochloric acid, which is formed in excess in diseases of the stomach. However, after a very short time, when the soda leaves the organ and moves to the duodenum, the body will release a new portion of the acid, but in even greater quantities. In addition, the interaction of acid and soda promotes the release of carbon dioxide, which, in turn, presses on the walls of the stomach. Where there is an ulcer, there is an increased risk of perforation. Therefore, soda with this pathology is strictly prohibited to drink.

    Is smoking allowed? Smoking and stomach ulcers are two incompatible concepts. Firstly, tobacco smoke provokes the development of this pathology, has an unnecessary stimulating effect on the entire gastrointestinal tract. Secondly, getting into the stomach with the swallowed saliva, nicotine intensifies the existing inflammation, inhibits the regeneration processes, and prevents the ulcer from scarring. Third, according to the latest data, smokers die from stomach ulcers 5 times more often than non-smokers with a similar disease. In addition, tobacco smoke provokes increased symptoms of the disease, in particular heartburn, belching and pain. Therefore, it is necessary to abandon this addiction, especially if an ulcer has been diagnosed.

    Can I have vodka, cognac?Doctors-gastroenterologists unambiguously agree that it is strictly forbidden to drink alcohol for stomach ulcer. This is justified by the fact that any alcohol, including vodka and cognac, provokes inflammation of the stomach walls, increases the acidity of its juice, and slows down the process of digestion. All this, in turn, leads to an exacerbation of the pathological process and can even cause gastric bleeding. If it is not possible to refrain from drinking alcohol, then in small quantities and not during an exacerbation of the disease, you should give preference to strong, but high-quality drinks, best of all vodka. In this case, you must first have a dense lunch, but the food should be gentle and enveloping the stomach. Thus, it will be possible to somewhat protect its walls from the harmful effects of alcohol.

The benefits of milk for stomach ulcers - a myth!

For many years, people with peptic ulcers have been advised to drink plenty of milk as it soothes the stomach and helps heal the ulcer. However, this is not quite true. Milk can help for a few minutes while it envelops the stomach. But milk is a powerful food that stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid, which makes the disease worse.

There is a study in which 60 patients with stomach ulcers took part. One group was on the usual classic diet, the experimental received 500 ml. milk for breakfast, 750 ml. for lunch and the same amount for dinner (in addition to basic treatment). As a result, 78% of patients were cured of stomach ulcers in the group that was on the classic diet - this is a common norm in inpatient treatment. However, in the experimental group that drank milk, only 53% recovered. ...

From this we can conclude that it is not advisable to drink whole milk during treatment.

During the period of exacerbation for 10-20 days, patients are prescribed diet No. 1a, then they switch to an extended diet No. 1. During the period of remission, the patient should, at the discretion of the doctor, adhere to diet No. 1 with individual expansion, or diet No. 5, depending on the condition. In any case, the prescribed diet must be strictly observed.

Diet 1 for stomach ulcers

It is prescribed for patients with stomach ulcers at the stage of subsiding exacerbation or at the stage of recovery, the duration of the diet is up to 5 months. High-calorie food - up to 3000 kilocalories per day. This method of nutrition involves eating mashed dishes that do not have a mechanical effect on the walls of the stomach. Foods for diet 1 are boiled or cooked in a double boiler. Meals should be taken every 2-3 hours. The carbohydrate-protein-fat ratio should be kept within 5: 1: 1.

The diet menu includes the use of stale pastries, unleavened biscuits, lean boiled meat and egg whites. Dairy and vegetable soup (except cabbage), seasoned with a small amount of butter or vegetable (refined) oil, are welcome. Allowed boiled low-fat meat pieces, fish without bones and skin, cooked in a double boiler. From side dishes, mashed cereals, fine noodles, vegetable purees or pudding are preferred. The presence of milk, non-acidic cottage cheese and sour cream in the diet is mandatory. For dessert, you can bake or boil sweet fruits (apples, pears, strawberries), juices diluted with water, honey, marshmallows, non-acidic jam.

Diet 1a for stomach ulcers

A more strict type of diet 1. It is prescribed, as a rule, in case of exacerbation of a peptic ulcer, with the obligatory condition of adherence to bed rest. All dishes are rubbed through a sieve before serving to reduce trauma to the gastric walls.

Diet 5 for stomach ulcers

This diet is intended for the patient's adequate nutrition and creates favorable conditions for the restoration of the functions of the digestive tract. Diet 5 is prescribed after relieving symptoms of exacerbation, in the recovery stage. The diet implies the intake of complete, balanced food, with the exception of foods rich in essential substances (onions, garlic, ginger), fried foods, fats (refractory), cholesterol-forming foods. There should be enough fruits and vegetables in the diet. Food is still boiled or cooked in a double boiler or oven.

Diet menu for stomach ulcers

The variety of the diet and the daily menu directly depend on the stage of the ulcerative process. That is why all questions about permitted or forbidden foods should always be coordinated with a doctor who monitors the dynamics of the disease.

Consider some of the nuances of the diet, depending on the stage of the process and the form of the disease.

Diet with an open stomach ulcer

The first 1-2 days after the discovery of an open ulcer, it is recommended to refrain from taking any food, replacing it with decoctions of medicinal herbs, flaxseed, carrot juice diluted in half with water. After that, coordinating your actions with your doctor, you can go on a diet. Most often this is diet number 1a. Meals should be frequent, fractional, complete, chemically and mechanically sparing.

An example of such a diet:

  • At night - a cup of milk.

Such a gentle diet should be adhered to before the onset of ulcer scarring, within 10-12 days.

Diet for acute stomach ulcer

Such food includes porridge, mashed soups, diluted broths, milk soups, yogurt, rubbed through a sieve or in a blender. All dishes are prepared with a minimum amount of salt (or better without it) and are not served hot or cold. If desired, you can add a little honey or butter (natural homemade) to the porridge.

During an exacerbation of the chronic course of an ulcer, nutrition is the same as in the acute form of a stomach ulcer. The diet combines chemically, thermally, mechanically sparing components: slimy consistency of soup, porridge (especially rice and oatmeal), vegetable purees, jelly, herbal decoction, dairy products (in the absence of milk intolerance). Over time, with the permission of the doctor, the diet is gradually expanded.

Diet with a bleeding stomach ulcer

For a bleeding ulcer, a fairly strict diet should be followed unless your doctor suggests otherwise. These are pureed, without coarse fibers, soups and liquid cereals (preferably buckwheat, rice or oatmeal) in water or milk (not in broth!), Egg white (cooked or in the form of a steam omelet), teas, herbal teas, jelly, carrot and potato juice diluted with water. There is a need to eat a little! Why should you eat liquid food? It is necessary to allow the ulcer (wound) to heal, and for this, the stomach should avoid stress in the form of heavy digestion of food and overstretching from overeating.

Diet after gastric ulcer surgery

Already on the second or third day after the surgery, the patient can drink settled mineral water, weak herbal teas or tea. With the permission of the doctor, after a few days, the patient is offered boiled egg white, mashed slimy soup or rice, buckwheat, well boiled and chopped. You can drink diluted vegetable broths, carrot juice, low-fat whipped cottage cheese soufflé.

A strict diet for stomach ulcers is indicated within 10-12 days after an exacerbation. Then they are allowed to use vegetable purees (potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, zucchini), lean fish and meat cooked in a double boiler. They begin to eat bread no earlier than 30 days after the operation, in limited quantities and in dried form. Fermented milk products are included in the diet 60 days after surgery.

The diet after a stomach ulcer should not be the same as before the disease. If the patient does not want to provoke the appearance of new exacerbations and the development of complications (bleeding, perforation, peritonitis), it will be necessary to adhere to certain rules of eating behavior all the time.

First of all, it is necessary to exclude rich bakery products, offal (kidneys, liver, offal, lungs), smoked meats, pickled products, sausage. It is better to give up cabbage, legumes, mushrooms, garlic, horseradish, mustard, onions. It is imperative to forget about alcohol, smoking, drinking carbonated drinks.

It is necessary to expand the menu after recovery gradually, and not earlier than six months after the acute period of the disease. Be sure to consult a doctor: very often the pain of an ulcer can subside only because the ulcer has begun to bleed. Visit your doctor after treatment in order to prevent recurrence of the disease and not to miss important symptoms and signs of pathology.

Diet recipes for stomach ulcers are varied, but do not make a decision on your own: if everyone says that you can have milk, and your doctor says that you cannot, it means that in your case it really should not be consumed. Most diseases are individual in nature. Both treatment and dietary nuances are negotiated separately for each patient.

Diet for stomach ulcers does not replace treatment, however, without diet, treatment will not bring any effect. Nutrition plays a huge role in our life, our health: in case of peptic ulcer disease, it will accelerate healing and prevent complications.

An ulcer is one of the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. It affects the gastrointestinal mucosa and can have a number of dangerous complications. A cure for this disease is impossible without a competent diet for stomach ulcers.

Treatment of the disease involves the exclusion of most of the products from the daily diet, which will minimize the negative factors that provoke an exacerbation of the disease. Nutrition should be balanced and suggest a certain regimen.

General dietary rules for stomach ulcers

The peculiarity of nutrition for gastric and duodenal ulcers is determined on the basis of the type of disease and the degree of its manifestations. However, there are a number of general principles that relate to the compilation of a daily menu for this disease. Consider what should be the diet for an ulcer:

  • Balance. Despite some restrictions in the diet, the patient's body should receive a maximum of useful substances. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the calorie content of dishes. For example, every day you need to eat foods with a total energy value of 3000 Kcal.
  • Minimum portions. Most often, stomach ulcers are caused by eating too much food at one time. At the same time, many people are used to eating twice a day, making huge gaps between meals.
  • Fractionality. The allowed break between meals is no more than three hours.
  • Fried foods must be completely eliminated from the daily diet. Steam cooking is preferred.
  • Baked food is allowed, but must be prepared in a special way. In particular, you should not wait for the moment when the product is covered with a golden crust.
  • Dishes that increase gas formation should be discarded.

  • Both cold and too hot food are prohibited. The ideal temperature is 30 degrees. When using hotter or colder foods, the enzyme function is inhibited in the body, as a result of which the regeneration of gastric epithelial tissue slows down. This rule should be followed during periods.
  • The food should contain a minimum amount of salt. It is best to eat foods that are not salty.
  • Drink at least two liters of water a day. If the patient has problems with the urinary system or thyroid gland, then this rule is canceled.
  • Must be present in the diet. With an exacerbation of the disease, products are used in a pureed form.
  • and carbonated drinks are completely excluded.
  • Products that enhance the fermentation of hydrochloric acid should be completely abandoned.
  • Dairy products and milk-based dishes are a priority.

  • It is allowed to use products that have undergone heat treatment (stewing, steaming, boiling or blanching). Fruits and berries are preferably eaten raw.
  • Solid foods that can harm the walls of the stomach are prohibited. You should also exclude from the diet all foods that can cause an increase in the secretion of the digestive tract.
  • Meat broths should be cooked with lean meat.
  • Zigzag food. Since adhering to a strict diet can be too difficult for some patients, it is okay to eat a little illegal food. However, their number should be kept to a minimum. A similar principle contributes to the training of the digestive tract, used as part of the recovery stage.

  • The diet at home should take into account the time it takes to digest food. It is very important that the stomach works without significant interruptions. For example, boiled apples, meat and bread are eliminated from the stomach about three hours after consumption. Legumes, grilled meats and fatty fish in five hours, and teas and broths in an hour and a half.

Important! Despite the presence of certain general principles, when drawing up the menu, one should be based on the characteristics of the body of each individual person. Proper nutrition is determined by a physician based on a thorough diagnosis. In this case, such factors as the patient's age, body weight, peculiarities of the location of pathology, the presence of concomitant diseases, and the stage of peptic ulcer disease are taken into account.

Diet for stomach ulcers involves a long process. For example, if the disease has worsened, then the patient is given a special diet, which should be adhered to for at least a year from the moment of deterioration of health. This is the only way to achieve stable remission. The main objectives of the diet are:

  • normalization of the digestion process;
  • creation of favorable conditions for the regeneration of mucosal tissues.

What can you eat with a stomach ulcer

With a stomach ulcer, what can you eat and what not? In this case, food is the basis of recovery, and therefore this issue should be approached with all seriousness. Many patients are very worried that the ulcer diet will be too strict and force them to give up their favorite foods.

In reality, things are not so bad. Despite significant restrictions in the diet, dietary food provides an extensive list of not only healthy, but also delicious products.

Therefore, each patient will be able to choose food for gastric ulcer in accordance with their taste preferences. Let's consider what you can eat with a stomach ulcer in more detail.

Allowed Products

Proper nutrition for stomach ulcers includes the following foods:

  • Bread. You can only eat the product that is baked from wheat flour. At the same time, it is forbidden to use fresh bakery products - at least a day must pass from the time of its preparation.
  • Berries and fruits are best eaten raw. However, before this it is necessary to peel the products from the tough skin. If necessary, the pulp is grated.
  • can be used boiled.
  • and products based on it. It is necessary to monitor the percentage of fat, the lower it is, the better. The daily diet may include cottage cheese, fermented baked milk, yogurt, and sour cream. It is advisable to wipe the cheeses.

  • ... Ulcers are encouraged to include beets, carrots and potatoes in their diet. These vegetables are allowed to be eaten boiled, stewed, baked.
  • Oils. It is permissible to use unrefined oils for the preparation of some dishes.

Important! The use of unsalted butter in small quantities is allowed.

This list of foods may be supplemented by your healthcare professional.

Allowed meals

Proper nutrition for stomach ulcers involves the use of the following dishes:

  • Pasta with meat. It is recommended to boil flour products well - they should be soft so as not to irritate the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. Meat should be of lean varieties, such as chicken or veal.
  • Bakery products. We use exclusively unleavened dough, but even in this case, the use of such dishes must be minimized. Any permitted food can be used as a filling.

  • ... They form the basis of the diet of patients with peptic ulcer disease. The cereals should be boiled well. For refueling, you can use vegetable oil.
  • Meat soups. It is very important to properly prepare such dishes. To do this, use a secondary broth, when immediately after boiling the water is drained, and the meat is filled with fresh water. Thus, the dish will be less dangerous for the stomach. It is forbidden to eat soups from primary broths for stomach ulcers. Beef or chicken is usually used for cooking such soups. Clear chicken or fish broths are also acceptable.
  • Omelet. Should contain no more than two eggs.
  • Casseroles. Prepared from both vegetables and meat.
  • Meat main courses. Preference should be given to rabbit, veal, turkey, chicken. You can cook almost any dish that does not require frying. Steam cooking is ideal.
  • Minced fish dishes. Steamed fish cakes or boiled fish can perfectly complement the ulcer diet. You can also cook fish in foil in the oven.

  • Desserts. All kinds of berry soufflés, jellies and mousses can be eaten practically without restrictions. More exotic dishes should be discussed with your doctor.

This is all you can eat with a stomach ulcer without any fear.

What can not be eaten with stomach ulcers

A diet for stomach and duodenal ulcers involves significant restrictions in the diet, so the patient will have to forget for a while from a number of foods and dishes. Otherwise, even treatment with the most modern drugs will not give the desired result.

Prohibited foods

Consider which foods are prohibited for stomach ulcers. The diet involves avoiding the following:

  • Fermented milk products such as ayran, etc.
  • Smoked products. Most sausages, including raw smoked, cooked-smoked and dry-cured products, are subject to the restriction.

  • Fatty dairy products. These include whole and condensed milk, cheeses, cream, buttermilk.
  • Hard boiled eggs.
  • Certain types of cereals. We are talking about semolina, barley, corn, muesli, granulated bran, wild rice.
  • Cucumbers and tomatoes are conditionally prohibited foods, so their use should be limited. The same goes for tomato paste.
  • Vegetables that are high in fiber because it is difficult for the stomach to digest. Therefore, radishes, radishes, turnips, peas, rutabagas, beans should be excluded from the diet.
  • Canned food and pates.
  • Fatty fish and meat are strictly prohibited, just like lard and caviar.
  • Berries containing a large amount of acid: figs, grapes, gooseberries, lemon, currants, limes, oranges, tangerines, pineapples.
  • Products that irritate the mucous membranes. These include onions, rhubarb, sorrel.

  • Horseradish, mustard, vinegar and ketchup.
  • and ice cream.
  • Any alcoholic and carbonated drinks.
  • Bread and rye bread.
  • Dried fruits, apricots,.

Important! During the period of remission, patients are allowed to consume a small amount of ham or cooked sausage.

Forbidden dishes

Ulcers should not eat the following dishes:

  • Cabbage soup made from sauerkraut.
  • Any kind of okroshka.
  • Primary boiling fish and meat broths. Soups based on these broths are also prohibited.
  • Any mushroom dishes.

  • Scrambled eggs, regardless of the characteristics of their preparation.
  • Meat dishes, if veins and cartilage have not been previously removed from the meat.
  • Any fried, smoked, canned, peppery, salty food. This includes all kinds of steaks, barbecue.

You should also control the amount eaten. Large portions will harm the body.

Dos and don'ts for stomach ulcers

Drinks are also an important part of the daily diet of most people. Therefore, you should pay attention to them. If a drink is used as a drink that causes harm to the gastric mucosa, then ulcer treatment will be ineffective. Permitted drinks include:

  • cocoa;
  • if it is weak;
  • compotes from those berries and that are not capable of harming the stomach;

  • freshly diluted with water;
  • mineral waters such as Essentuki and Borjomi;
  • if a rosehip decoction is used as a drink, then patients with an ulcer can use it without restrictions.

Important! It should be noted that coffee is a prohibited product, but it can be taken as part of a zigzag diet. This suggests that, in consultation with the doctor, it is allowed to periodically include it in the diet.

Among the prohibited drinks, the following should be highlighted:

  • any drinks containing alcohol are completely excluded;
  • strongly brewed teas and;
  • hot drinks (the temperature of which exceeds 40 degrees);

  • cold drinks (temperature below room temperature);
  • drinks prepared on the basis of citrus fruits and other products that harm the gastric mucosa;
  • , as well as any drinks based on it.

The specific menu for stomach ulcers is determined on an individual basis, taking into account the characteristics of the course of the disease, the patient's age and the presence of concomitant ailments. The most popular is table number 5, which is assigned not only to ulcers, but also to patients with gastritis and other serious gastrointestinal diseases. Consider an example menu for a week with a stomach ulcer:

  • During your first breakfast, you can cook any of the allowed cereals or boil a soft-boiled egg. You can drink compote or loosely brewed tea in the morning.
  • For the second breakfast, a curd casserole or compote is prepared.
  • Lunch. First, a light broth or soup with rice or buckwheat. The second course is porridge with meatballs or mashed potatoes with steam cutlets. You can drink it with jelly or by preparing a rosehip decoction. A soufflé can be used as a dessert.

  • Afternoon snack. Baked apple with low-fat yogurt. You should not gorge yourself too much. Making an omelet is also a good option. Tea or compote is used as a drink.
  • Dinner. Vermicelli or porridge with chicken cutlets. You can cook fish meatballs or steamed burgers. You can drink it with rosehip broth, jelly or compote.
  • A couple of hours before bedtime, you can drink a glass of milk, slightly warming it up.

The above diet for ulcers can be adjusted by the attending physician.

With an exacerbation of an ulcer

The period of exacerbation is usually accompanied by severe abdominal pain. To facilitate the general condition of the patient, he should know how to eat properly with stomach ulcers.

Advice! During this period, to facilitate the work of the digestive tract, special recipes should be used. It is recommended to grind food until it is mushy. Dishes should contain a minimum of salt and be served warm.

Consider an example of a daily menu:

  • During breakfast, you should eat an omelet of two eggs, which is preferably washed down with jelly.
  • For a snack, you can have a glass of fruit yogurt.
  • For lunch we eat buckwheat or barley porridge soup. For the second carrot and potato puree with baked or boiled chicken breast. Weak milk tea.
  • Afternoon snack. Light chicken broth soup with rice.
  • Dinner. Oatmeal with butter. Herbal tea.
  • Before going to bed, we drink a glass of warm tea with milk.

With a bleeding ulcer

How to eat properly when? In this case, the patient should adhere to the most stringent diet. It is necessary to eat food in liquid form every day. Soups and cereals with milk (oat or buckwheat) are allowed.

If agreed with the doctor, you can include boiled egg whites or a steamed omelet, drink fresh carrot and herbal decoctions in the weekly menu. It is very important during this period to follow all medical recommendations, since improper nutrition can contribute to the formation of new bleeding.

Important! Before and after the operation, food intake is prohibited, and the introduction of nutrients into the body is carried out intravenously.

After operation

It is compiled individually for each patient. In the event that the patient's recovery process proceeds without visible complications, he is prescribed a general diet characteristic of ulcers. It assumes the following rules:

  • First day. Strict diet - patients do not eat anything.
  • Second day. If the patient has, then he is allowed to drink half a glass of liquid. Drink slowly, with teaspoons.
  • The third day. It is allowed to increase the fluid intake to two glasses. This can be plain water, light tea, and clear broth at room temperature.

  • Fourth day. As a supplement to liquid food, you can use jelly, oatmeal soup, or soft-boiled eggs. The total amount of food does not exceed 5 glasses. The daily number of meals is 10-12 times.
  • The fifth day. The patient can drink liquids in unlimited quantities. At the same time, he is allowed to eat cottage cheese, semolina porridge and grated dietary soup. Boiled meat should also be grated. Diet food does not prohibit the use of cutlets and meatballs.

In the postoperative period, the patient must adhere to all the recommendations of the attending physician.

In remission

The menu for a patient with a stomach ulcer should be followed in case of remission of the disease. It should be understood that any power failure can provoke another relapse of the disease.

The menu after a stomach ulcer should be based on the above permitted and prohibited foods. In order to at least roughly compose a daily diet, it is necessary to undergo a comprehensive examination, as a result of which the state of the patient's body will become known.

An ulcer is a serious illness, so its symptoms should not be ignored. The sooner treatment for this disease begins, the better. And the basis for successful therapy is a properly developed diet.

When a person develops an ulcer, his eating behavior changes dramatically. The patient often experiences severe pain, burning and tightness in the stomach area. This affects the attitude of a sick person to nutrition: some patients do not eat at all, refusing to eat the necessary food for the body. Diet for stomach ulcers is a method of treating this disease, aimed at eliminating unpleasant symptoms. A well-formulated diet can help manage pain, accelerate ulcer healing, and improve overall health.

Diet principles

Diet is far from the only method of treating the disease, but without it, medical therapy carried out at home will not be effective enough. The main goal of a healthy diet is to prevent ulcers from opening, which occurs when eating prohibited foods.

Doctors identify several basic principles of the diet:

  1. Regularity. Long intervals between meals lead to the fact that the hydrochloric acid produced in large quantities begins to corrode the walls of the stomach. To prevent this from happening, you need to eat every 2-3 hours.
  2. Serving size. Doctors recommend small amounts of permitted foods. The approximate weight of a portion is 100-150 g.
  3. Cooking method. Food can be steamed, boiled or stewed. You need to use them in mashed, crushed or liquid form. In this case, they are easily absorbed by the body and do not cause disturbances in the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Fried and baked foods (with a golden crust) injure the digestive tract, so it is recommended to exclude them from the diet.
  4. Food temperature. It is forbidden to eat food cold or hot: aggressive temperatures lead to the fact that the production of enzymes is disrupted. As a result, the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum is restored slowly, which increases the risk of ulcer opening. Safe temperature 26–33 ° C.
  5. Drinking regime. It is important to drink at least 1.5-2 liters of water per day. However, this should be done half an hour before meals or an hour after it. If you drink with food, the water will wash away the gastric juice, which will delay the digestion process.
  6. Cooking meat, fish and broths. Meat, fish, poultry or seafood must be completely free of skin, bones, tendons and fat. During the preparation of broths, the water must be changed at least twice: this is necessary in order to reduce the percentage of fat content.

When changing your diet, remember that this diet is not a weight loss diet. The diet should have a sufficient amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

The causes of ulceration

Ulcerative lesion is a deep defect that forms on the mucous membrane of the stomach or duodenum 12. This happens due to the fact that the gastrointestinal tract is constantly in contact with aggressive substances. In a normal state, the body uses a clear defense mechanism, which includes the following processes:

The mucous membrane is damaged by pain relievers (NSAIDs), severe stress, harsh foods and drinks, H. pylori infection, and diseases in which the production of gastric juice is increased. Often, an ulcer becomes a complication of another disease - gastritis.

List of approved products

The ulcer diet includes a number of permitted foods:

The total calorie content of the diet is 2500-3000 kcal per day.

Prohibited foods

When starting a diet, do not forget about dietary restrictions. The list of prohibited foods includes:

Prohibited foods aggressively affect the stomach and lead to an exacerbation of the disease. If you do not follow the diet prescribed by the doctor, the ulcer causes complications: the formation of a through hole in the wall of internal organs, inflammation of the peritoneum, bleeding, gastric obstruction and cancer.

Diet with exacerbation

The diet should be followed every day, but some patients forget this. Symptoms of the disease subside, which is why patients begin to eat fried meat, fatty soups, desserts and other foods that provoke the opening of the ulcer. As a result, an exacerbation of the ulcer occurs, and the patients again feel pain, from which they managed to wean themselves.

To cope with pain, you need to combine medication with your diet. Prohibited foods should be eliminated and replaced with protein foods. Their role in ulcer treatment is as follows:

  1. The substances that make up the protein are involved in the healing of damaged tissues. They are a kind of building material that helps to "tighten" the ulcer and relieve the symptoms of the disease.
  2. Protein binds hydrochloric acid and pepsin - an enzyme that is part of gastric juice. This effect occurs when hydrochloric acid is produced in excess.
  3. Enhances the effectiveness of drugs in patients who suffer from protein-energy deficiency.

The largest percentage of protein is found in animal products. These are meat, poultry, eggs, cottage cheese, fish, seafood. Also, this element is included in the composition of buckwheat, yogurt and soy.

An equally important part of the diet is fat. Depending on the individual physiological characteristics, the norm of this component varies from 55 to 65 g. You can get this substance from vegetable or butter, but you need to eat foods in limited quantities.

Nutrition for bleeding

During the period of bleeding, you can use mucous soups and mashed foods. You need to eat often and little by little: with this mode, food is absorbed more easily and practically does not irritate the mucous membrane.

The list of foods that can be eaten during this period is quite wide. An ulcer diet includes:

  • milk and fruit jelly;
  • cereals with milk (with the exception of cereals such as wild rice, millet, pearl barley);
  • vegetable fats;
  • steamed egg omelet;
  • puddings and jellies;
  • meat soufflés and pates (not canned);
  • boiled vegetables;
  • grated apples.

The list of prohibited foods is expanding: with a bleeding ulcer, you should not eat meat, fish and seafood, canned food, sausages, jam, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Diet during convalescence

After the ulcer finally disappears, there will be fewer dietary restrictions, but it will not be possible to completely get rid of them. Doctors recommend limiting the use of prohibited foods, eating vegetables only in boiled form, and eating dishes prepared in the process of frying or baking no more than 1-2 times a week.

Experts identify useful products that help prevent an exacerbation of ulcers:

  1. Milk, jelly. These drinks envelop the stomach lining and provide additional protection against aggressive substances.
  2. Honey. By consuming honey, you will combine business with pleasure: get a pleasant taste sensation and protect the internal organs with increased production of hydrochloric acid. You can eat it alone or add it to tea. Aggressive temperatures have a negative effect on honey, depriving it of its beneficial properties. When adding it to tea, make sure that the drink is not too hot. Store honey at room temperature.
  3. Cabbage juice. During an exacerbation, it must be used with caution. However, after recovery, you can drink it at least every day (in the absence of intolerance). Cabbage juice fights infection and nourishes the body with useful vitamins.

Menu for the week

Nutrition for ulcers requires discipline and responsibility. It is important to only eat safe foods, eat regularly, and avoid skipping meals. To make your diet easier, make a meal plan in advance or use the sample menu below.

Advantages and disadvantages

The diet has practically no drawbacks, therefore it is recommended by doctors for various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. This diet has many advantages:

  1. A healthy and balanced diet helps reduce the strain on the digestive system. Thanks to this, the healing of the ulcer is faster.
  2. Along with food, a sufficient amount of essential trace elements enters the body. The patient's general well-being improves.
  3. The diet relieves heaviness, burning and pain in the stomach, prevents recurrence of the disease.

The main disadvantage of the diet is the difficulty of adhering to it, because you will have to exclude familiar foods from the diet and replace them with gentle ones. Most often, these are dishes without sauces, spices and with a limited amount of salt. In addition, you need to eat at least 6-7 times, make a meal plan, and prepare food in advance.

Food can be a medicine for many diseases. And you can't argue with that. It is not for nothing that in Soviet times, health care gave priority to diet for stomach ulcers. Compliance with the principles of nutritional therapy was strictly required.

The secret is that peptic ulcer disease of the digestive tract often heals even without treatment, but with proper nutrition.

Briefly about the ulcer

An ulcer is a single or multiple defect in the lining of the stomach or duodenum that leaves a scar after healing. When conducting EGD, it can be barely noticeable (1-2 mm) or huge (more than 1 centimeter).

Even today it is a pathology from which people die. Invisible enemy - bleeding takes away thousands of lives every year. Stomach ulcer loves large cities and is off scale where there is a high level of economic development. Among the population, he prefers carriers of the first blood group.

There are so many reasons causing ulcers that almost every person is at risk. You can start a list of factors of its appearance from the stomach - this is a violation of the secretory, motor and protective functions. Add the state of neuropsychic activity, hormonal levels and finish with heredity with the presence of pathogenic bacteria. But this is not a complete list.

One of the important points in the appearance of an ulcer is an unhealthy diet, when a person prefers spicy, rough food, eats hastily, often drinks alcohol and smokes a lot.

Features of nutrition for stomach ulcers, general principles

How do you need to eat to live without stomach pain?

The first thing to do is evaluate your diet. Gastritis and peptic ulcer disease by themselves signal the need to change habits and eating habits. Food should become medicine, water that wears away the stone.

Diet therapy will help with this. It solves a number of problems: normalizes gastric motility, increases the protective properties of mucus, neutralizes acid, and stimulates the healing process. In fact, medical nutrition should be based on products that slightly stimulate secretion, quickly leave the stomach and slightly irritate its mucous membrane.

Principle one - reduce the aggressive action of hydrochloric acid.

She is the leading damaging factor. It is necessary to remove products that stimulate the secretion of gastric juice. This includes everything that makes food spicy, piquant, and stimulates appetite: spices, herbs.
