Analysis of Baratynsky's poem "The Wonderful City will sometimes merge ..."Yevgeny Baratynsky is a classic of Russian literature, whose works were highly regarded by such famous poets as Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov. At the same time, Baratynsky's poems for the first half of the 19th century were quite innovative and unusual, so many literary critics spoke very coolly about his work, which was mysterious and seemed to be turned inward. This is not surprising, since the fate of Baratynsky was quite tragic. In his youth, due to a stupid trick, he was expelled from the pages of the imperial corps without the right to hold a public office in the future. As a result, as the poet himself later recalled, he had two paths - to go to the soldier, in order, perhaps, by the end of his life to become an officer, or to become a poet. Personal drama, experienced at the age of 15, was reflected not only in the entire subsequent life of Baratynsky, but also in his work, which was uneven, impulsive and rather unpredictable. However, after meeting the poet, Pushkin noted that he was one of the few who knew how to think and poetically express his thoughts. Subsequently, being already a fairly well-known writer, Baratynsky still managed to make a small career in the public service, where he was admitted thanks to the efforts of influential relatives. But that didn't make him happier and more confident. After his marriage, Baratynsky dreamed only of a quiet and secluded life, so he turned many of his friends away from home, becoming, in fact, a recluse. It is to this period of the poet's life that the poem "The Wonderful City will sometimes merge", which was written in 1830, belongs. From the first lines of the work, the poet reveals to the readers an amazing world of his dreams and fantasies, in which the "wonderful city" suddenly suddenly appears from the "flying clouds". Having abandoned noisy companies and social events, Baratynsky really indulges in dreams that someday he will be able to find a place on earth where he will be truly happy and free from the conventions of society. However, the poet realizes that his dreams are ephemeral, and the magical city, drawn in the imagination, instantly disappears when “the wind touches it,” meaning by the phenomenon of nature the property of the human brain at the most inopportune moments to return people to a sad and gloomy reality. It is worth noting that, having retired to his country estate, Yevgeny Baratynsky, encouraged by the friendly advice of famous poets, decides to devote himself entirely to literature. But there are always some little things that distract him from creativity and cause severe irritation. This feeling haunts the poet everywhere, therefore in the poem "A wonderful city will sometimes merge ..." the author draws a parallel between his ephemeral dreams and literary creativity, pointing out that in the same way poetic thoughts, inspired by dreams and memories, "disappear from the breath of extraneous vanity." ... According to the memoirs of contemporaries, marriage and voluntary confinement went to Baratynsky's advantage, he became much less hot-tempered and harsh. And even some romance appeared in his works. Nevertheless, the poems of this poet still remained very personal and understandable only to those people who experienced similar feelings in their lives. For example, Alexander Pushkin, after the publication of the poem "The Wonderful City will sometimes merge ...", expressed his sincere gratitude to Baratynsky for the fact that in his work he touched upon a problem so characteristic of many creative people. However, readers and critics of that time did not even bother to understand what the author wanted to say with this short and capacious work, what feelings and emotions he put into it. The wonderful city will sometimes merge Analysis of the poem "The Wonderful City will sometimes merge" by BaratynskyBaratynsky's poem "The Wonderful City Will Sometimes Merge" was very coolly received by both critics and contemporaries of the poet. It is surprising that over time the meaning of the work is revealed more strongly, it is more understandable for the current reader than for a person from the 19th century. Baratynsky is a person ahead of his time. In that era, he was not fully understood by his contemporaries. The poet had different from others, his own views on creativity and poetry. This circumstance made his works innovative and stand out from the rest. “The Wonderful City will sometimes merge” is one of such works. The history of creation is very entertaining. The poet has always dreamed of solitude, and his wish came true after his marriage. Many guests and visitors disappeared from Baratynsky's house (at the request of the owner), the poet completely devoted himself to creativity and poetry. This seclusion was beneficial, many famous works were written, including this one. Its main theme is reflections on creativity, fragility and ephemerality of poetry. Baratynsky draws a comparison between the muse who came to the poet and "flying clouds". Out of nowhere a "wonderful city" appears, it is fleeting and disappears as suddenly as it appeared. The slightest gust of wind or movement of thought destroys this hail without a trace. Inspiration plays an important role in creativity. It is sudden, it cannot be created by an effort of will. The main task of the poet is to catch this moment, not to let go of the lucky chance of a creative impulse. The images created by inspiration are like clouds - mobile, light and changeable from the slightest influence ("breath of extraneous vanity"). The moral is that you need to be sensitive to your gift of inspiration. Any neglect or delay, and the image will disappear forever and irrevocably. Among the expressive means of the poem, one can note precisely selected epithets ("wonderful, volatile"), personifications ("the wind ... will touch"), expressive metaphors ("breath of extraneous vanity"). Baratynsky's dream of solitude became the right decision, especially in terms of his poetic gift and creativity. The confinement was beneficial, the main poems in the poet's life were written during this period of time. Despite the fact that "The Wonderful City will sometimes merge" was not appreciated by contemporaries, it found a response later and has not lost its relevance for many decades in a row. |
